GauG Corporation announced that it has raised funds with Coral Capital as lead investor to develop and offer a new service that crosses NFT, fantasy sports, and eSports. The company will be the first in Japan to incorporate fantasy sports elements into eSports as a means to further activate and attract the current eSports player and fan community building.

Fantasy sports are simulation games in which players collect cards of real-life professional players to create an imaginary original team and compete against each other. Although the market is large, especially in the U.S. and Canada, it is not well known in Japan.

The new service announced by GauG will sell cards of professional e-sports players as NFTs to ensure the rarity and collectability of the cards. Each player's card score and rank will be linked to the actual player's game results, and they will also be able to enter leagues and matches held on the platform. Depending on the results, players will be able to win prize money and rare cards. These efforts will further encourage e-sports fans to watch and support e-sports and revitalize the community.

Although fantasy sports are not well known in Japan, " eSports Legend," a simulation game in which players manage a fictional e-sports team, has been a hot topic on SNS for some time. The Japanese e-sports market is also known for the high level of enthusiasm among fans who watch the games, so we look forward to seeing what GauG's new service will bring to the market. Comment from Mr. Tiffany Jiayang, Coral Capital

The Japanese eSports industry lags behind the gaming industry and the global eSports industry. There is no platform for players to track and share game statistics (stats) and build teams. Regulations have also prevented the e-sports model from flourishing as seen in other countries. GauG is looking to change this by leveraging NFT to create a gamer and community-centric platform. With a global team that comes from well-known companies such as Bank of America, Gung Ho, Honda Motor, and Mitsui & Co, GauG has extensive knowledge of eSports and a passion for the industry. We are proud to support a team that truly embodies the gaming culture of "Work Hard, Play Hard."

Comments from Yutaka Togawa and Yoshiko Tanaka, basepartners, Inc.

We are delighted to be able to support the GauG team's knowledge, experience, and passion for the esports market as they focus on their new challenge, Fantasy eSports. Fantasy eSports is a cross between eSports, which has become increasingly popular in Japan in recent years, and FantasySports, which has become a huge market overseas, and is expected to grow on the global stage. We look forward to the challenge of creating a "new frenzy" created by GauG!

The e-sports market has been growing rapidly in recent years, and demand for services that facilitate connections between game production companies, professional e-sports players, gamers, and fans is expected to increase. GauG, led by its president Mr. Maeda, is a team that combines passion for e-sports with global business experience, and has built a highly enthusiastic e-sports community that provides a venue for e-sports tournament management and gamer interaction. Furthermore, in the future, GauG plans to launch a new fantasy sports business in the e-sports domain utilizing NFT. We have invested in GauG because we expect GauG to take the market by storm as a leading player in revitalizing the e-sports community. United will fully support GauG's challenge in the Japanese and global markets.
