Nintendo Co., Ltd. announced the possibility that a considerable number of people will not be selected in the lottery results for the first lottery drawing for the "Nintendo Switch 2," scheduled for release on Thursday, June 5, 2025.
It is reported that approximately 2.2 million people in Japan alone applied for the first lottery drawing, significantly exceeding the total available units.

On Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at 7:00 PM, Nintendo Co., Ltd. updated the official Nintendo X account (@Nintendo).
It was revealed that there were approximately 2.2 million applications in Japan alone for the first lottery drawing.
Consequently, the number of applications greatly exceeds the quantity of "Nintendo Switch 2" consoles available for the Thursday, June 5, release via the My Nintendo Store, and a considerable number of applicants are expected to not be selected.
Applicants who were not selected in the first lottery drawing will be automatically carried over and included in the lottery for the second lottery drawing via the My Nintendo Store.
However, it appears that even with the units allocated for the second lottery drawing, it will not be possible to fulfill every application.
In response to this situation, Nintendo Co., Ltd. is implementing measures, such as further strengthening its production system.
They reportedly plan to continue producing and shipping a considerable number of units in the future as well.
Regarding the "Nintendo Switch 2" shipment, reservation or lottery applications for the console will begin sequentially at game retailers and online shops nationwide starting Thursday, April 24, 2025.
