A brand-new sanctuary for gamers is on the horizon.
Qiddiya Investment Company in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, has announced the launch of the world's first Gaming & Esports District.
This massive project is designed to accommodate 73,000 people across a sprawling site equivalent to more than 10 Tokyo Domes.

A New Gaming & Esports Sanctuary in Saudi Arabia

In recent years, Saudi Arabia has been undertaking urban planning focused on entertainment, sports, and more in an effort to move away from oil dependency.
One of these giga-projects is Qiddiya.
Developed under the support of the national initiative, Saudi Vision 2030, Qiddiya City is scheduled to feature a wide variety of facilities, including a motorsports speedway, golf courses, a water theme park, and a multipurpose stadium.
One of these components is the newly announced Gaming & Esports District.

During large-scale esports events, the maximum capacity is expected to reach up to 73,000 people.
Beyond event periods, it will welcome global esports teams year-round, providing an environment where up to 25 teams can live while training and competing.
Additionally, the project aims to attract regional headquarters from over 30 leading gaming and esports companies, driving job creation and technology investments.

The entire district will span over 500,000 square meters, with more than 100,000 square meters dedicated to dining, retail, and entertainment spaces.
Furthermore, by constructing over 2,000 theme-based residences and more than 700 hotel rooms, the developers intend to create a space where not only gamers, but a wide variety of people can live, work, and play.
