A new official book is joining the "Pokémon" series, which has many fans from children to adults.
The "Pokécology," which focuses on the ecology of Pokémon, will be released at bookstores nationwide (in Japan) from Wednesday, June 18, 2025.
Prior to this, reservations began on Monday, April 21, 2025, and a teaser site was also simultaneously released.
This book delves deeper into the familiar information from the "Pokédex" and introduces the "Physical Characteristics," "Diet," "Sleep," and "Means of Movement" of each of the over 1000 different Pokémon, based on extensive observation data and analysis.
Academic Commentary by Two University of Tokyo Doctors! Also Featuring Newly Drawn Ecology Illustrations

Supervising and providing commentary for the "Pokécology" is Yoshinari Yonehara, who holds a PhD in animal behavior and ecology from the University of Tokyo's Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Sciences.
He is currently with The Pokémon Company, utilizing his expertise in animals to provide academic insights into Pokémon ecology.
Furthermore, the illustrations newly drawn for this book are by Chihiro Kinoshita, an illustrator also known for many animal guidebooks, who likewise obtained a PhD from the University of Tokyo.
The visuals, crafted to realistically depict Pokémon while being easy to view and highlighting features at a glance, possess appeal not only as academic material but also as a visual book.
This guidebook serves as an opportunity to re-examine "Pokémon" academically, while also being highly recommended for fans who want to enjoy the Pokémon world more deeply!
