GLOE Corporation has announced the closure of Akihabara's dedicated esports facility "e-sports SQUARE" on Wednesday, April 30, 2025.

End of an Era: e-sports SQUARE Closure After 14 Years

Originally opened as "e-sports SQUARE Ichikawa" in Chiba Prefecture in November 2011, the facility relocated to Akihabara in 2014 as "e-sports SQUARE AKIHABARA".
Despite multiple operational changes, it remained a sacred ground for Japanese esports, hosting tournaments like "LJL 2015" and "Chicken Winner Halloween Night", viewing parties, broadcasts, and recording sessions.

The venue's fighting game tournament "Fighter's Crossover -AKIBA-" (now Fighters Crossover), organized by kagecchi (@kagecchi79), became legendary among competitive gamers.

GLOE Corporation plans to consolidate their Tokyo offices and facilities, including e-sports SQUARE and GLOE Studio, into a new headquarters. While the physical venue will close, the company confirms the e-sports SQUARE brand will continue with maintained studio functions. Follow @gloe_jp for updates.
