Geo Store Corporation announced that it has resumed trade-ins of retro video games at 920 Geo shops nationwide in Japan, starting on Monday, December 8, 2025.
Sales of the purchased items will begin at major stores in each region around the start of 2026.
Geo Resumes Trade-Ins and Sales of Retro Games!

Geo previously ended trade-ins and sales of retro games at Geo shops in 2021 to optimize sales floors and improve operational efficiency.
However, in recent years, retro games from the Showa and early Heisei periods have garnered attention not only from the generation that remembers them but also from Generation Z and overseas users, causing the entire market to expand again.
In response to this growing market need, Geo announced that it would resume handling retro games to rebuild an environment where customers can easily buy and sell them at their local stores.
Utilizing its network of 920 stores nationwide in Japan, Geo provides an easy-to-use option for those who find the burden of packing and shipping for peer-to-peer transactions too much, allowing them to simply bring the items in.
By cycling buried games dormant in households back into the market, the company says it will contribute to the revitalization of reuse.
Furthermore, trade-ins for comparatively newer consoles, such as the Xbox Series X/S, will also be expanded as part of this initiative.
