National Prefectural eSports Championship 2026 Confirmed to Take Place Online on December 12 and 13! Competition Titles Also Announced

The Japan eSports Union (JeSU) announced that the "National Prefectural eSports Championship 2026" will take place online on Saturday, December 12, and Sunday, December 13, 2026.
JeSU selected three official competition titles: eFootball, Gran Turismo 7, and Puzzle & Dragons.

The "National Prefectural eSports Championship" is a Japanese tournament where prefectural representatives who have won regional qualifiers compete against each other. Now in its eighth year, the tournament determines the top esports prefecture based on combined scores across multiple competitive events and divisions.

Since its inaugural 2019 event, the tournament took place at National Sports Festival venues. However, this year's event transitions to a new format and will take place online. Organizers made this decision after re-evaluating the tournament's future direction to help establish esports as a lifelong sport. Marking the first online tournament since the COVID-19 pandemic, organizers selected the following three titles for competition:

• eFootball
• Gran Turismo 7
• Puzzle & Dragons

Additionally, organizers will feature the long-running staple, "Puyo Puyo Champions", as an exhibition match after it helped energize past tournaments. Organizers will announce qualifier entry details, broadcast schedules, and additional exhibition matches once finalized.
