Playstation to Discontinue Disc Production for New Games in January 2028; Ps3 and Ps Vita Store Services Also Ending

PlayStation has announced the end of disc production for new console games and the termination of the PlayStation Store for PS3 and PS Vita.
Moving forward, titles will be available via digital download only.

PlayStation has announced the end of disc production for new console games and the termination of the PlayStation Store for PS3 and PS Vita.
Starting in January 2028, PlayStation will provide new games exclusively as digital downloads via the PlayStation Store and retailers.

New Games to be Digital-Only Starting January 2028

Due to shifting consumer purchasing trends, new console games will be available exclusively as digital downloads via the PlayStation Store and retailers beginning in January 2028.
This will not affect titles already released or games scheduled for release before the January 2028 production end date.

PlayStation Store Services for PS3 and PS Vita to End

Because providing the latest system updates for the PS3 and PS Vita stores has become difficult, PlayStation will discontinue the store service for these platforms in phases. The rollout begins in 2026 in certain countries and regions, with a full global rollout by 2027.

• Mexico, Honduras, Nicaragua: PS3 PS Store service ends in August 2026
• Other countries/regions in Latin America and the Middle East: PlayStation will discontinue PS3 PS Store service in phases starting in late 2026
• All other countries and regions not listed above: PS3 and PS Vita PS Store services will end in July 2027

After service ends, you will no longer be able to purchase new content on these devices.
Note that you will still be able to download previously purchased content even after the service ends.
