The price of the PlayStation 5 (hereafter PS5) was increased starting Monday, September 2, 2024.
For the standard version PS5 with a disc drive, the price after the revision is ¥79,980 (tax included), a ¥13,000 increase from the pre-hike price of ¥66,980 (tax included).
The new price is high enough to make one hesitate to buy, especially when you consider that the old model with a disc drive was about ¥55,000 at launch.
Of course, I already own a PS5, but another painful thing is that the DualSense Wireless Controller now costs over ¥10,000, starting at ¥11,480 (tax included).
I've had to replace it a few times due to malfunctions, and the thought of paying ¥11,480 (tax included) for a replacement is tough, even though I don't use it roughly.
Well, I can't just focus on the negatives!
The PS5 provides wonderful gaming experiences and futuristic experiences like PS VR2, but considering its specs, you get the feeling it's capable of even more amazing things.
For all of you, the broadcast of the PS 5 Technical Presentation that you can't help but pay attention to has been decided!

Broadcast to Air from 8AM PDT, 11AM EDT, 4PM BST on September 10!
It has been decided that the PS 5 Technical Presentation will be broadcast starting from 8AM PDT, 11AM EDT, 4PM BST on Wednesday, September 10, 2024!
It has been announced that there will be a 9-minute broadcast from Mark Cerny, who is also well-known as the lead architect of the PS5, about PS5 and game technology innovation.
The broadcast will be on the official YouTube channel of PlayStation of America. A Japanese-subtitled version is scheduled to be released at a later date.
The broadcast is certainly short, but for that reason, it seems like it will be packed with a lot of content.
The PS5's release date was November 12, 2020, so it's almost the 4th anniversary.
With that in mind, you might be able to expect an announcement regarding some kind of new model at this PS 5 Technical Presentation... but we'll just have to wait and see!
