The organizing committee, formed by San-ei Co., Ltd. and IID Co., Ltd., has announced that it will hold " WePlay Expo JAPAN 2027," a festival celebrating gaming culture, at Makuhari Messe for three days from Friday, April 2, 2027, through Sunday, April 4, 2027.
This event is the Japanese version of “WePlay Expo,” which began in China in 2017.
"WePlay Expo," the Chinese gaming culture event, is coming to Japan for the first time! From AAA titles to indie games, they’ll all be there
" WePlay Expo JAPAN " will bring together a wide range of titles — from AAAgames to indie games —across all platforms, including PC, console, and mobile.
Not only will attendees be able to try out the games for themselves, but they’ll also have the opportunity to interact directly with creators and other players.
Hands-on demos of featured titles and on-site merchandise sales will be available
The venue will feature a wide range of content, including hands-on demos of everythingfrom AAA titles to indie games, as well as gaming device exhibitions andmerchandise sales.
Additionally, the event will feature stage announcements of new releases, community events, and business meetings.
Main Scheduled Content
- Game Demos: Hands-on demos of titles ranging from AAA to indie games on PC, console, and mobile (a demo area organized by the event organizers is also planned)
- Gaming Devices: Gaming PCs, monitors, peripherals, and more
- Merchandise & Culture: Merchandise sales at exhibitor booths, themed exhibits, and opportunities to meet creators
- Stage & Community: Announcements of new releases and updates, game demos, RTA events, tournaments, participatory events, developer and creator talks, award ceremonies, community events, and more (under consideration)
- Business & Global: Business meetings, interviews, and networking during Business Days. Two-way collaboration with overseas game creators and companies
