The long-awaited "Mega Drive Mini" from SEGA is now less than two weeks away from its release.
I, of course, have also pre-ordered one, and it is scheduled to arrive at the Saiga NAK editorial office on the day of release, so I am very excited about it.
The Mega Drive was sold under the name "Genesis" in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, where the console and controller were used slightly differently.
The "Mega Drive mini" was also scheduled to be released as the "SEGA Genesis Mini" in North America, and now the "SEGA Genesis Mini" will be available in Japan on Amazon!

The "Mega Drive Mini" and the "SEGA Genesis Mini" will contain different titles. Out of a total of 42 titles, 17 titles are different, which means that 2/5 of the titles are different.

Different controllers!
The controller for the "Mega Drive Mini" is the same as the "Mega Drive 2" controller, with directional keys and 6 buttons (A, B, C, X, Y, Z), but the controller for the "SEGA Genesis Mini" is the same as the original "Mega Drive" controller, with A, B, C, X, Y, Z buttons. The "SEGA Genesis Mini" controller has only three buttons (A, B, and C) just like the original "Mega Drive" controller.
Although there are differences in game titles and playing styles, those who prefer 3-button controllers may want to consider the "SEGA Genesis Mini.
3-button controllers are now available in Japan!
If you are a 3-button player, but you are depressed because you can't get a 3-button controller unless you buy the "SEGA Genesis Mini", we have good news for you!
The "Mega Drive Mini Three-Button Control Pad" is now available exclusively at SEGA Store, the official mail order site of SEGA!
This is the answer to the request of the core SEGA fan who says, "A six-button pad is reasonable, but I want a three-button version", too.
It is the same size as the original "Mega Drive" controller, which is different in size from the "SEGA Genesis Mini".
It is one size larger than the six-button controller, making it easier to fit in the hand and easier to use the directional keys diagonally.
The "Mega Drive Mini Three-Button Control Pad" will be available on September 27, 2019 for 3,218 JPY.

"SEGA Genesis Mini" will be available for pre-order on Amazon on Monday, September 9, 2019 at approximately 12:00 pm.
There is no release date or price listed at this time, but the "Mega Drive Mini" with two controllers is priced at 8,980 JPY (excluding tax), so we expect it to be around the same price.
The price is expected to be about the same as the "Mega Drive Mini" which comes with two controllers for 8,980 JPY (tax not included).
The "SEGA Genesis Mini" can be set to Japanese, so don't worry if you are not confident with your English!
