Square Enix released The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows on Thursday, June 18, 2026. The Steam version releases on Friday, June 19. This title marks the first completely new action RPG in the HD-2D series.

The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is the first completely new action RPG in the HD-2D series, which seamlessly fuses pixel art and 3DCG. An epic adventure unfolds as the adventurer Elliot, alongside his fairy partner Faie, travels across four different eras. Players will forge a path through uncharted lands and unravel the mysteries of the world by combining Elliot's simple yet challenging actions with the supporting actions of Faie.

In addition to single-player mode, this game also supports local 2-player play. The second player can control Faie to support Elliot with magic and other abilities, allowing two players to cooperate and progress through the adventure together.

A Journey Through Four Eras in Philabieldia

The game is set in Philabieldia, a world infested with monsters and barbarians. The adventurer Elliot and his fairy companion Faie discover the Doorway of Time, which connects the past and the present, deep within ancient ruins. They set out on a journey to confront a thousand-year destiny, progressing through four distinct eras as follows:

• Age of Safekeeping: The present era where Elliot and his companions live, maintaining a safe nation through the protective magic of Princess Heuria.
• Age of Reconstruction: An era further in the past than the Age of Safekeeping, where protective magic does not yet exist, and people gather in a village called Little Hope on the brink of destruction.
• Age of Magic: An era even further past the Age of Reconstruction, where humanity reached the pinnacle of prosperity through magic-based technology.
• Age of Budding: The oldest era Elliot and his companions explore, marking a major turning point for humanity due to the Myu tribe, who wield powerful magic.

Deep Combat Utilizing Different Weapons

In addition to actions such as jumping, swimming, and diving during your travels, players will progress through combat while utilizing 7 weapon variations and shields as follows:

• Swords
• Bows
• Boomerangs
• Hammers
• Spears
• Chain-sickles
• Bombs

Successfully timing a Perfect Guard against an enemy's attack can create a massive opening for a counterattack.

Fairy Faie's Support Is the Key to Success

Fairy Faie's magic and support actions are also a major key to success, providing support with the following five spells:

• Dash, which accelerates Elliot
• Warp, which teleports Elliot to Faie's location
• Ignite, where Faie cloaks herself in flames
• Vacuum, where Faie pulls in items and enemies
• Copy, where Faie mimics Elliot's movements

Furthermore, even if Elliot's HP drops to 0 and he falls, he can be revived using Faie's magic.

Customize Weapons with Magicite

By equipping Magicite, which can be crafted from magicite fragments collected during your adventure, you can imbue weapons with various effects. In addition to stat boosts, players can freely customize each weapon, such as generating lightning when unleashing a special move to inflict massive damage on enemies over a wide area.

The Digital Deluxe Edition, which includes an in-game accessory set, is also available for purchase. Furthermore, the Collector's Edition is also available, which comes bundled with a soundtrack CD and a diorama-style Faie and the Doorway of Time Table Clock.
