OnePlus, which develops high-end smartphones, is now a subsidiary brand of OPPO.
If you visit an OPPO store in China, you’ll find a OnePlus section, and all the models on display there are designed with gaming in mind.
In this article, we’ll introduce the “OnePlus Ace 6 Ultra,” which was released in May 2026.
OnePlus’s Lineup Targeting the Gaming Smartphone Market

In China, OnePlus currently offers three model lines: the two-digit “Ace” series for the mid-to-high end, the “Turbo” series for the mid-range, and the flagship “OnePlus 15” series, which features Qualcomm’s top-of-the-line Snapdragon chipset.
Meanwhile, in the global market, models with “R” or “T” appended to their names are being sold in place of the “Ace” series.
Furthermore, with “Nord” replacing “Turbo,” the lineup is surprisingly complex.

The OnePlus Ace 6 Ultra featured here is a high-end smartphone powered by MediaTek’s top-of-the-line Dimensity 9500 chipset.
The 6.78-inch display has a resolution of 2772 x 1272 pixels and a maximum refresh rate of 165Hz.
It also features a built-in 16-megapixel front-facing camera.
Incidentally, its sister models—the “Ace 6” and “Ace 6T”—are already on the market, but they are lower-end models with differences such as chipset performance.
A distinctly “gaming console”-like, cyber-inspired rear design

The device comes in two color variants: “ Metal Storm ” and “ Ace Awakening.”
The former is gold-toned, while the latter features a black base with blue neon accents and the ACE logo.
The exterior definitely gives off a gaming model vibe.
The camera specs are modest, with a 50-megapixel wide-angle lens and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens.
Since gaming is the primary use case, as long as the main camera delivers good image quality, that’s more than enough.
It’s equipped with a powerful 8,600 mAh battery supporting 120W charging

The large 8,600mAh battery supports bypass charging.
It also supports 120W fast charging, allowing you to charge the battery to about half capacity in about 20 minutes even from zero, so you can rest easy even when you’re in a hurry.
On the other hand, despite being marketed as a gaming model, it lacks dedicated gaming trigger buttons on the sides.
It does, however, feature a shortcut button on the left side for accessing AI functions and launching the camera.
This design likely shares the same board layout as other OnePlus smartphones, which helps keep costs down.
The device measures 162.45 x 77.47 x 8.45 mm and weighs 217 g.
ColorOS and the New Cooling System Ensure a Smooth Experience

The OS is ColorOS 16, shared with OPPO, and is based on Android 16.
It offers excellent graphics performance, with fast display transitions when switching screens.
Compatibility with iOS has also been improved, allowing for smooth file transfers.
In this regard, it offers the same features as OPPO smartphones sold in Japan.

Overall performance is smooth.
There are absolutely no issues when using general apps.
Gaming is also comfortable thanks to the fast screen response.
Furthermore, the new internal “Glacier Cooling System” combines an extra-large “Glacier Vapor Chamber” with “2K Supercritical Glacier Graphite” to enhance heat dissipation efficiency.
According to OnePlus, “combined with a touch design tailored to the control style of first-person shooter titles, this system unleashes performance more aggressively and delivers stable gameplay at full frame rates.”
Comfortable gameplay with the newly designed gamepad

The separately sold gamepad is designed to perfectly accommodate the OnePlus Ace 6 Ultra.
Pull the gamepad body apart to the left and right, then slide the smartphone inside to secure it.
Since it connects via USB Type-C rather than Bluetooth, the response is said to be very fast.
The two-tone white and red finish—OnePlus’s corporate colors—gives it a somewhat elegant look.

Weighing just 150g, it’s relatively light and feels easy to handle.
Viewed from the side, the grip area bulges downward, designed to be firmly supported by the palm.
When you actually hold it, it feels stable even when shaken with one hand, clearly demonstrating its excellent grip performance.
Compatibility with other OnePlus smartphones is planned

In addition to the OnePlus Ace 6 Ultra, it’s also compatible with the Ace 6 series and the OnePlus 15.
It’s reported that support for other OnePlus models will be added in the future.
Four high-response buttons

Using the four buttons makes game controls easier and allows you to touch the screen comfortably while holding the gamepad.
The button response time is 1.8 milliseconds, and the key input polling rate is 1000 Hz.
Additionally, an official OnePlus external air-cooling fan can be magnetically attached to the OnePlus logo in the center.
The USB Type-C port on the bottom can be used not only for charging but also for connecting headphones.
Must-Have Items to Buy Alongside It

Some third-party gamepads have loose connections to the device or don’t fit properly, making them difficult to use.
However, since this gamepad is an official manufacturer product, it fits seamlessly and offers outstanding usability.
I feel this is a must-have item to buy along with the device.

The OnePlus Ace 6 Ultra is priced at 3,799 yuan (approx. 90,000 yen) for the 12GB + 256GB model.
With a total of five models available, ranging up to 16GB + 1TB of storage, you can choose the one that fits your budget.
The gamepad costs 449 yuan (approx. 11,000 yen).
Since OnePlus hasn’t launched in Japan yet, there aren’t many opportunities to try the device in person, but if you ever visit China, I highly recommend stopping by an OPPO store to give it a try.
