Preferred Networks is a well-known start-up company. Preferred Networks is a well-known startup company with strong expertise in AI and deep learning, and is developing a variety of cutting-edge technologies.
Preferred Networks is also developing the " Playgram" programming textbook, which has been adopted in more than 700 classrooms throughout Japan. The company's new attempt to utilize this expertise is the development of the open-world survival craft game "Omega Crafter".
At the booth, there was a corner where visitors could easily experience programming. Fujii 4-dan (@MTNRFG ), an active university student, took on the challenge while receiving explanations from Mr. Sato, the person in charge of development.
On the screen, you can see "Grammy," a character that also appears in "Omega Crafter," and three fishing points. You give Grammy instructions using blocks that can be easily programmed, and catch fish!

The main character has landed in this world from a transfer pod for a variety of reasons. First, he cuts down trees around him to build a base of operations.
If he had to cut down each tree manually, he would spend all day long.... That's where Grammy comes in.
You give the command "cut down the nearest tree" and...
Grammy automatically started cutting down the surrounding trees!
We use the wood and stones Grammy collects to develop our base. Craft and mass produce arrows, and you are ready for adventure!

A city created by an actual "Omega Crafter" user, who spent more than 300 hours on the game, was also on display.
The detailed workmanship of the houses, restaurants, stores, etc., with the symbolic objects at the top, is amazing! Even Grammy, who stands like an NPC, seems to have been programmed to speak.
Omega Crafter" was developed by the company after seeing children earnestly working on "Playgram," a programming program for children and beginners, and thinking, " We can create something interesting for adults as well. Crafter" is currently only available on Steam.
Although there are no concrete plans at this time, Sato said, " I hope to port it to other platforms in the future.
The effectiveness of the educational use of games is evident in the number of classrooms that have been set up throughout Japan at the time of writing. The ability to learn just by playing games is sure to become increasingly sophisticated as a next-generation educational method. So, that was my report on the Omega Crafter booth!
