The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) will sponsor the " AFTER 6 LEAGUE " e-sports league for working adults, it was announced on the official Twitter page of the AFTER 6 LEAGUE.
The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) has already supported the AFTER 6 LEAGUE through the Japan eSports Union (JeSU) and the Shibuya-ku SDGs Association, but this is the first time for a national government organization to sponsor the event.
What is AFTER 6 LEAGUE?
AFTER 6 LEAGUE is an e-sports league for working adults run by the AFTER 6 LEAGUE Executive Committee.
Companies on the executive committee include Toppan Printing, Dentsu Group, CCI, STA, eS-League, April Knights, and DiCE.
It is noteworthy that the committee members come from a wide variety of industries and company sizes.
We at Saiga NAK have been keeping a close eye on the "After 6 League" since before it was launched, and the fact that the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) is sponsoring this event is quite understandable.
Why is METI sponsoring the event?
METI is always looking for economic effects of e-sports in cooperation with JeSU and other organizations.
The economic effects not only on e-sports but also on the surrounding industries are quite large.
However, from the perspective of "e-sports business," it tends to be narrowly focused on prize money from events, sponsorship income, and distribution on YouTube and Twitch.
The potential for new markets and new industries in e-sports is wide, and there are still many potential businesses, but the reality is that it is difficult for those who have no or limited working experience to realize their potential.
Therefore, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry's sponsorship of the "After 6 League," an e-sports league for working people in the corporate world, is of great significance and has great synergies that are yet to be seen.
This time, METI is sponsoring "AFTER 6 LEAGUE season 2," and we are not sure what will happen after season 2 is over, but we hope that METI will continue to support the league.
AFTER 6 LEAGUE" season 2 begins!
The second season 2 of the "AFTER 6 LEAGUE," sponsored by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, will be held from the second half of this month.
