The Japan e-Sports Association (JESU), a general incorporated association, announced that it will hold the " 2026 National Prefectural e-Sports Championship " online on Saturday, December 12, and Sunday, December 13, 2026.

The “National Prefectural eSports Championship” is a national eSports tournament featuring prefectural representatives who have advanced through regional qualifiers.
Its defining feature is that it determines the strongest prefecture in eSports based on the overall results across multiple disciplines and divisions; this will be the eighth edition of the event.
Since the inaugural tournament in 2019, the event has been held at the host locations of the National Sports Festival (National Athletic Meet), but this year it is being positioned as a special tournament in conjunction with the transition to a new format and will be held online.
This decision was made following discussions on a new approach to the tournament, with the goal of establishing esports as a “lifelong sport.”
For this tournament—the first to be held online since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic—the following three titles have been selected as competitive events.
- eFootball
- Gran Turismo 7
- Puzzle & Dragons
Additionally, it has been decided that “Puyo Puyo eSports,” which has long helped energize and support the tournament, will be held as an exhibition match.
Details regarding how to participate in the qualifiers for each discipline, how to watch the tournament, and the addition of new exhibition matches will be announced as soon as they are finalized.
