Q. How did you feel when you were cast for the role?
Ayumi Tanida: It was always a dream of mine, so I was jumping for joy!
(Having your face in the game, or a character modeled after you?)
Ayumi: Yeah, a playable character with my face. But when I heard the name of the role, I thought, "Rodriguez!?"
(Doesn't sound Japanese at all, right?)
Ayumi: "That's not a yakuza member!"
Q. Could you tell us more about Rodriguez?
Ayumi Tanida: So, I just had my last recording session today, and the plot's every bit as gritty as the rest of the series. My character's this hulking man who lives in solitude and is on a journey to find his father's treasure. And I played him with a lot of intensity.
Q. What are some highlights of this game?
Ayumi Tanida: Well, Majima is the protagonist and the story is set in Hawaii, so things are quite different this time around.
(Yeah. That sounds right.)
Ayumi: From the start, I wanted it to be the type of action game that wouldn't be possible if it were set in Japan. That's what I hoped for.
