Capcom Co., Ltd. has announced that the Monster Hunter series has surpassed 100 million units sold worldwide.
Having established global popularity second only to Resident Evil, the Monster Hunter series is preparing for the release of its latest title, Monster Hunter Wilds, in 2025.
Monster Hunter Series Surpasses 100 Million Units Sold Worldwide
The Monster Hunter series is a hunting action franchise that celebrated its 20th anniversary in March 2024.
The Monster Hunter Freedom series for handheld consoles gained explosive popularity in particular, with Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, released in 2008, selling 3.8 million units and Monster Hunter Freedom 3, released in 2010, selling 4.9 million units as they grew into massive hits.

In Monster Hunter: World, released in 2018, the game systems and marketing aimed at global expansion as its name suggests truly shone through, and cumulative sales including Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Master Edition surpassed 25 million units.
This is the best-selling title among all those released by Capcom, and it continues to break records even now.

The following title, Monster Hunter Rise, released in 2021, launched on Nintendo Switch and revived the way players enjoy Monster Hunter on handheld consoles.
Following its initial launch, the player base was expanded through a multi-platform rollout on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and more.
Monster Hunter Rise has sold 15 million units, and Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak has sold 8 million units.
How far will the Monster Hunter series, which has finally secured the overseas recognition that was once its few weaknesses, extend its record in the future?
The release of the latest title, Monster Hunter Wilds, has also been announced for 2025, and expectations are high for further breakthroughs.
