Capcom announced that they will release daily videos introducing the features of the 14 weapon types, starting on Monday, August 5, 2024, for the latest title in the series, Monster Hunter Wilds (PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam), which is scheduled for simultaneous worldwide release in 2025. These daily updates provide fans with something exciting to anticipate! Let's dive into the details of these first videos.
Check Out the New Elements of "Monster Hunter Wilds" in the Video!
The first video released today introduces the basic Hunter actions and key fundamentals of the new mechanic, Focus Mode. This content is a must-see for players new to the "Monster Hunter" series and those interested in the new elements of "Monster Hunter Wilds".
New Action: Focus Mode
The videos also introduce how to use the hunter's standard equipment, the Slinger, and the actions of the Seikret, the riding animal essential for field exploration.
Furthermore, the new mechanic, Focus Mode, is explained in detail. While in Focus Mode, players can precisely aim their attacks and guards, and a monster's wounds and weak spots are highlighted in red, making them easier to target.
Interestingly, the Seikret was a monster from the initial proposals for Monster Hunter, but was shelved because it was technically impossible to implement with the technology at the time. It is exciting to see the Seikret finally appear in Wilds after all this time.
Utilize Wounding and Focus Mode

In "Monster Hunter Wilds," repeatedly attacking the same part of a monster creates a wound, and striking that wound allows the Hunter to deal significant damage.

Furthermore, targeting wounds or weak spots during Focus Mode activates a special derived attack, which can destroy the wound in a single hit. Note that creating or destroying wounds is also possible outside of Focus Mode. The visual presentation, such as the narrowed field of view, is also well-designed and should make the attacks feel impactful to execute!
Great Sword Introduction Video Released
The Great Sword, one of the 14 weapon types, is also introduced. While the Great Sword has slow attack swings and movement, its high single-hit power makes it a versatile weapon that can be used by a wide range of players, from beginners to veterans.
Seeing moves from past games is exciting, but the new move tied to Focus Mode is particularly cool! The specific special derived attack performed using Focus Mode also warrants a closer look!
Promotion Video Scheduled for Late August
The third promotional video for "Monster Hunter Wilds" is scheduled to be released at gamescom Opening Night Live, starting at 3:00 AM JST on Wednesday, August 21! Additionally, the world's first playable demo will be held at gamescom 2024, which runs in Cologne, Germany, from Wednesday, August 21 to Sunday, August 25, 2024 local time.
