There are only about two months left of the Famicom 40th Anniversary, which began in July 2023. As the end approaches, it is gradually starting to feel a bit lonely.
Various projects have been implemented, and among them, Famicom Talk Shop Kobayashi Toys reached its final episode a bit early on Thursday, May 9, 2024.
In addition to the familiar shop manager, Kendo Kobayashi, and staff member Susumu Imadachi of Eleki Comic, the final episode featured a luxurious lineup with two former part-time workers, Hinami Mori and Ichiro Yatsui of Eleki Comic! It was fun content until the very end without being somber.
It was extremely valuable to see what was likely the world's first live gameplay footage of Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition for the Nintendo Switch, which is scheduled for release on Thursday, July 18, 2024!
Famicom Talk Shop Kobayashi Toys consists of 10 episodes in total, but since they are scheduled to be available until around 10:00 AM on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, let's watch them as much as possible so we have no regrets while they are still public!
Now, while Famicom Talk Shop Kobayashi Toys has reached its final episode, the Famicom 40th Anniversary is not over yet!
The results for the weekly highlight, the Famicom National Poll, Vol. 42 "Name + Kun/Chan" have been announced!
Many Pop Titles! Vol. 42 Results Announced!
The results of the 42nd Famicom National Poll for "Name + Kun/Chan" have been announced, and the top 20 rankings are now public on the Famicom 40th Anniversary Campaign Site!
One might think there would be many pop titles since the criteria involves titles or characters called "Name + Kun/Chan" appearing in them... but the one that emerged victorious from the fierce battle was Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-kun with 23.3% of the votes!
While the Kunio-kun series later increased its number of comical works with stylized characters, this first entry in the series is truly "Nekketsu Kouha" (Hot-blooded Tough Guy) as the name implies!
The look of Kunio depicted on the package in a hardcore "Tsuppari" (delinquent) style is also great.
From second place onwards, many titles feature "Name + Kun/Chan" in the protagonist or appearing characters and include it in the title as well, with many pop titles such as Ninja Jajamaru-kun, Ninja Hattori-kun, Ninja-kun (Ninja-kid), and Dracula-kun (Kid Dracula), which the author also voted for.
Because these are titles where iconic characters with "Name + Kun/Chan" appear, many are licensed works based on original properties, and it is a bit sad that many package images are listed as "NO IMAGE," perhaps due to rights issues.
In 19th place, Famicom Detective Club: The Girl Who Stands Behind does not have "Name + Kun/Chan" in the title, but the protagonist is called Tantei-kun in Japanese!
A remake version of Famicom Detective Club: The Girl Who Stands Behind is also available on Nintendo Switch, so please check it out!

In Honor of Mother's Day! "Mother" Voting Begins!
The end of the 42nd poll means the 43rd poll has begun.
Voting for the 43rd Famicom National Poll has started as of Thursday, May 9, 2024! The theme this time is Mother!
Every year, the second Sunday of May is Mother's Day, and since it falls on Sunday, May 12 this year, it is perfect timing.
Mother-like figures appear in various games, and there are even titles that use exactly that word, so there seem to be quite a few candidates this time as well.
While expressing your daily gratitude to your own mother, please cast your fair vote for a title with a memorable mother!
This time as well, you can vote from the Famicom National Poll page on the campaign site after logging into your Nintendo Account.
