Riot Games, Inc. has announced that League of Legends: Wild Rift, the smartphone title from League of Legends ("LoL"), will enter a closed beta testing period for several weeks beginning Wednesday, September 16, 2020. LOL is a game that has attracted attention from around the world, with over 100 million players worldwide and a total prize pool of over 700 million yen for tournaments held in 2018.
With so many fans eagerly awaiting the arrival of the smartphone version of LoL, a closed beta test will finally begin for the release of the smartphone version.
Beta test starts in Southeast Asia.
The closed beta test for Wildrift will be conducted in several phases.
Testing will begin on Wednesday, September 16, 2020, before the rest of the world, in some areas of Southeast Asia.
The regions covered are Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, and Singapore.
Riot Games has announced that Wildrift will be available for play around the world by the end of 2020, and the company will be beta testing outside of Southeast Asia in the coming months before the full version is released.
The beta test will be conducted only on the Android version of the game, and access will be randomly distributed to players who pre-registered for Wildrift on the Google Play Store, as well as to content creators, media representatives, and influencers.
Plans for beta testing in Japan and other regions, as well as future developments, will be announced in early October 2020.
