PR TIMES

Michael A. Stackpole, author of numerous science fiction and fantasy works, including the " Star Wars " series, has adapted a dark fantasy epic that is still loved by many fans into a novel.
The translation is by Hitoshi Yasuda, president of Group SNK, which has produced many fantasy TPRGs, and freelance translator Sakuya Haneda, who has translated several game-related books.
The book will be illustrated by Jun Sueya of Group SNK, who has also illustrated the " DARK SOULS TRPG " series in the past.
The game's profound worldview is retained in this work, and the thrilling original story of a man surviving in a harsh world is depicted on an epic scale and with overwhelming catharsis.
We can expect to see the immortals losing their "humanity" through repeated deaths, which we only saw in the game through NPCs, as well as the description of how he overcomes the daemons and obtains a huge amount of souls!
I am also looking forward to seeing the main character in Roadrun and the appearance of the bosses and NPCs that appeared in the game!

The novel "Dark Souls: The Masked Play of Benmei" will be released on Tuesday, October 25, 2022!
The 328-page book will be published at a yet-to-be-determined price.
Please check the official KADOKAWA website for product details.

Synopsis

In an underground cemetery, a man who was supposed to be dead wakes up in the dark and gradually regains his senses.
The man had lost most of his memory, including his name.
From the surrounding circumstances, it seems that the burial team anticipated the man's resurrection and tried to keep him locked up in this place, but the unexpected grave robbers unexpectedly broke the seal.
The corpse of the grave robber lying in front of him unexpectedly begins to move and attacks the man.
The man remembers that he is a magician and defeats the grave robber with a magical light that he shoots from the palm of his hand.
Then, the man's memories of the tomb-robber's life flow into his mind - the man's memories of the tomb-robber's life.
The man realized that a long time had passed since his death by looking at the stars in the desert at night outside the cemetery, and he decided to name himself "Phelanos," the letters engraved on the outer wall of the cemetery.
The man who awoke from sleep and gained his name, with the dagger dropped by the grave robber in his hand, sets out on a grand adventure guided by fate...
