After its release in November 2020, many of you may have obtained a " Playstation 5" (PS5) and are enjoying the best gaming life possible.
Although there are still only a few PS5 exclusive titles, you can experience its great performance by playing certain PS5 titles.
The video, audio, DualSense wireless controller, etc., all surpass the performance of previous consoles, but the most surprising thing about PS5 is how fast it loads.
The custom SSDs installed in the PS5 and its machine power enable blazing-fast loading, so you can play comfortably with almost no waiting time for the game to load.
Personally, after playing "FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE" on PS4, I was shocked to play "FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE" on PS5.
However, the PS5's internal SSD has a capacity of 825 GB, which is even less than the amount of space actually available when considering that it is also used by the system.
Many people are considering increasing the capacity of the PS5 SSD, as they will not be able to play PS5 titles unless they are stored on the internal SSD.
For those people, Western Digital has announced an officially licensed SSD for PS5!
A licensed product, so you can expand the capacity without worry!
Western Digital has announced the " WD_BLACK SN850 NVMe M.2 SSD for PS5 Consoles," an SSD certified as a licensed product for the PS5 console!
The PS5 can connect and use external storage devices via USB connection, allowing PS4 titles to be saved and launched, while PS5 titles can only be saved, but need to be moved to the PS5's internal SSD for launch.
Since the data size of today's games is inevitably large, there is a limit to how much data can be stored on the internal SSD, and to be honest, frequently moving data between external storage and the internal SSD is also a hassle.
For this reason, the PS5 has an NVMe M.2 SSD slot in the main unit, which allows you to add an NVMe M.2 SSD to increase capacity...but if the SSD does not meet the requirements, it cannot be used in the same way as the PS5 internal SSD.
There are many NVMe M.2 SSDs on the market, and they are not inexpensive, so if you buy one and then can't use it, you may lose a few days of sleep!
However, the newly announced "WD_BLACK SN850 NVMe M.2 SSD for PS5 Consoles" is a licensed product, officially tested and certified for PS5 consoles, so you can store and boot your PS5 titles just like onboard SSDs!
The 1TB model is capable of up to 7000MB/sec read and 5300MB/sec write speeds, so you don't have to worry about any performance loss compared to the internal SSD.
If you got your PS5 early on, it's probably time to consider adding an SSD since the internal SSD capacity is probably full by now.
"WD_BLACK SN850 NVMe M.2 SSD for PS5 Consoles" is available in 1TB and 2TB!
Stay tuned for more information on pricing and release date!
