Self-service beverage stations (called Drink-Bar in Japan) at family-style restaurants and similar places offer the appeal of mixing your favorite drinks from a wide selection to create your own unique blend.
However, with standard carbonated beverages, it can be difficult to make custom mixes or enjoy them with less fizz.
Suntory Beverage & Food Limited.'s concentrate-type "Ouchi Drink-Bar" series is perfect for making custom drinks at home using concentrates based on popular sodas like C.C. Lemon and Dekavita C!
The "Ouchi Drink-Bar" series was created to bring the beverage station experience home, and now, "Ouchi Drink-Bar: Pepsi Cola" has been newly added!
Additionally, POP Melon Soda, C.C. Lemon, and Dekavita C, previously available, have been re-released with updated packaging. Let's dive into the review!
Easily Make Drinks at Home! Reviewing the Ouchi Drink-Bar Series!

The "Ouchi Drink-Bar" series is a concentrate, and one bottle can make up to 10 servings!

The cap is labeled 'Concentrate,' serving as a warning against drinking it straight.

Measurements are marked on the side of the package, making it easy to see how much to pour.
The recipe is also written on the side, recommending dilution at a 1:4 ratio.

Tried Diluting and Making Drinks!

Let's try making a drink now!
Diluted with Carbonated Water

First, let's start with the newly released "Ouchi Drink-Bar: Pepsi Cola".
Pepsi Cola is a classic carbonated beverage, so it's great to have a concentrate version available.
I'll start by diluting it with carbonated water.

When you pour 'Ouchi Drink-Bar: Pepsi Cola' concentrate into carbonated water, you instantly get Pepsi Cola!
It tastes just like the standard Pepsi Cola you're used to drinking, and the quality is high.
You can enjoy cola anytime, which is useful in various situations like watching movies or playing games.
You can adjust the dilution ratio to customize the taste to your preference. Let's try some different mixes!
Mixed with C.C. Lemon

Next, I'll mix it with C.C. Lemon.
When poured and mixed, the color becomes a slightly transparent cola color.

The taste is a pleasant surprise, with a noticeable lemon tartness, resulting in a lemon cola flavor.
The lemon is stronger than the cola flavor, and compared to C.C. Lemon, the overall flavor is milder, with less of distinct spiciness.
Mixed with Milk

Next, I'd like to try mixing it with milk.
The combination of cola and milk is not very common, but let's see...

When mixed, the color becomes like cafe au lait. As for the taste, it has a sweet finish, like a milky candy.
When combined with milk, the Pepsi Cola concentrate loses its distinct cola flavor, resulting in a rich, sweet taste.
When you're tired or craving something sweet, you'll want to drink it all at once.
Cola Float with Vanilla Ice Cream

Finally, I tried making a cola float using vanilla ice cream.
The combination of cola and the rich sweetness of vanilla ice cream is exquisite.
Unlike when mixed with milk, the cola taste doesn't disappear, and you can enjoy both the taste of vanilla ice cream and cola at the same time.
Mixing the Renewed "Ouchi Drink-Bar" Series Too!
The "Ouchi Drink-Bar" series has received updated packaging. I tried mixing the three existing flavors with carbonated water.
"Ouchi Drink-Bar: C.C. Lemon"

Add carbonated water to a glass with ice. When you pour in 'Ouchi Drink-Bar: C.C. Lemon' concentrate, it takes on the light yellow color of C.C. Lemon.

When diluted at the recommended 1:4 ratio with carbonated water, you get the familiar taste of C.C. Lemon.
You can adjust the amount of concentrate to make it weaker or stronger depending on your mood.
"Ouchi Drink-Bar: POP Melon Soda"

Next, I will dilute "Ouchi Drink-Bar: POP Melon Soda."

When diluted at the recommended 1:4 ratio, it tastes just like POP Melon Soda.
POP Melon Soda is known for its classic, old-fashioned coffee shop taste, which is well-replicated here.
If you add vanilla ice cream, it also becomes a cream soda.
"Ouchi Drink-Bar: Dekavita C"

Finally, I will dilute "Ouchi Drink-Bar: Dekavita C."

'Ouchi Drink-Bar: Dekavita C' also contains royal jelly extract and vitamins, just like regular Dekavita C.
Simply diluting it with carbonated water at the recommended 1:4 ratio gives you Dekavita C.
Taste-wise, it has a energy drink-like flavor, similar to ready-to-drink Dekavita C.
This time I diluted it with carbonated water, but it would also be great as a syrup for shaved ice.
