"Holy Horror Mansion" Hands-On Report! Follow the Story Through Mononoke Collection and Card Battles

I tried out the demo for the upcoming title “Holy Horror Mansion” at the Level-5 booth at “Tokyo Game Show 2026”!

Let’s jump right into the game!
This is a Ghostcraft RPG scheduled for release in 2027.
Even though the title includes “Horror,” the cute characters and world setting really got me excited.

Head out into the town right away and start exploring!
When you use “Ghost Search,” objects with “high soul reactions” start to glow.
There are lots of soul reactions all over town.

Use the “Ghost Shot ” with Cameron, the camera character, on a manhole where you can see a green soul.
Life has been breathed into it, and a yokai has been born!

When you talk to her, the manhole spirit “Mandy” turns into a card and joins your team.
Keep collecting spirits like this.
Collect “Mononoke” with “Ghost Shot”!
Use Ghost Shots to keep gathering allies.
I can’t wait to see what forms the objects around town will take…!
All sorts of things turn into Mononoke!

In the demo, I could recruit up to four companions.

It looks like you’ll be able to encounter many, many more Mononoke in the full version!
Explore the dungeon!

As you explore using Ghost Search, you’ll find things glowing pink.
Time to take a snapshot!

A “Dungeon Soul” entered the cake, and an entrance to a swirling dungeon appeared.
When I jumped in, my body was sucked right in…!

Inside the cake is a fairy-tale world!
I can’t help but chuckle at the humor in the phrase “a dungeon with a ‘good’ cake.”
Let’s head deeper in search of treasure.

When you take a Ghost Shot of the yellow soul, objects transform into an obstacle course!
The jelly started bouncing like a trampoline.
Use the jelly to jump high and aim for the top of the cake!

I found a treasure chest at the very top of the cake.
I managed to get the "Deco Cake, " a recovery item for Mononoke.
Take on a card battle!

After clearing the dungeon and returning to the real world, it seems there’s a sinister presence in town.

After killing time until nightfall, there’s definitely an unsettling atmosphere in the air.
Following the source of the vibe, I find a woman wearing a hat; as I get closer, I see she’s wearing a mask.
Since I can use Ghost Shot, I decide to take a picture…?

When you use Ghost Shot, the woman transforms into the Woman with the Split Mouth...!
Unlike the spirits you’ve encountered so far, she’s enormous and terrifying.

The battle against the Woman with the Split Mouth begins right then and there!
You’ll fight using the cards of the Mononoke you’ve befriended so far.

Choose one card from among Normal Attacks, Area Attacks, Special Moves, and more to attack!

When you use a special move, an “element” is assigned to the enemy.
When an element is assigned, cards that are well-matched against it will glow.

Unleash the special move of the Mononoke “Sand Sam” to give the Slit-Mouthed Woman the Oily attribute!

Using a Wet-attribute special move now deals additional Link Damage against Oily-attribute enemies.
It looks like you’ll be able to fight strategically by combining attributes!

I unleashed a barrage of special moves and defeated the Slit-Mouthed Woman.
She collapses with a terrifying expression...

The defeated Slit-Mouthed Woman seems to want to join your party.
When you reply, “Come on over!”…?

To my surprise, the Slit-Mouthed Woman transformed into “Saki the Slit-Mouthed” and joined my party!
She’s so tiny and cute~!

Although I was relieved after the battle, it seems the “ Demon King’s Hall ” is closing in on us.

Just as its true identity was about to be revealed, the demo ended.
I can’t wait to see what happens next…!
Collecting lots of “Mononoke,” exploring dungeons, and devising strategies in card battles.
It was a demo packed with fun elements.
It looks like everyone from kids to adults will enjoy it!
