Takara Tomy announced that it will release the board game, Dragon Quest: the Game of Life, on Saturday, October 24, 2026, commemorating the 40th anniversary of the RPG series, Dragon Quest.

Dragon Quest: the Game of Life is a board game where players adventure across the board, gathering party members across various vocations and collecting Gold (play money) to defeat Archfiend Zoma in a spinner battle at the finish line to become the Legendary Hero.
The classic car-shaped mover pieces from The Game of Life transform into wagons, where players insert color-coded companion pegs representing different vocations into their wagon whenever new party members join the journey.
A total of 7 variations of vocations are available:
- Adventurer
- Hero
- Sage
- Warrior
- Priest
- Mage
- Gadabout
Also, players can change vocations into a Sage or Hero by fulfilling specific conditions.
The game is packed with iconic Dragon Quest elements, such as changing vocations to Sage at Alltrades Abbey, encountering familiar monsters like Slimes, and collecting items like Yggdrasil Dew.
The board features numerous spaces that trigger familiar events from the video games, and collecting Mini Medals to exchange for items is another appealing feature.
It delivers an experience that immerses players deeply into the world of Dragon Quest while remaining a tabletop board game.
The game retails for 7,150 yen (tax included).
