"Dr. Mario" is a puzzle game released by Nintendo in 1990 for the Famicom (NES) and Game Boy (Game Boy).
A new Dr. Mario game, "Dr. Mario World," has suddenly been announced!
Developed jointly by NHN, LINE, and Nintendo
Dr. Mario World is a game application jointly developed by NHN, LINE, and Nintendo, the largest Internet service company in South Korea, and NAVER Group.
The reason why Nintendo chose NHN and LINE as its joint development partners this time is because NHN has been developing online and mobile games in Japan since around 2000 with Hangame and has strength in game development, while LINE is a messenger application with large user data and strength in social graphs. LINE has a large amount of user data from its messenger application and has strength in the social graph.
The game application will be distributed by Nintendo.
Revamped System
In the past, Dr. Mario was a falling puzzle game similar to Tetris or Puyo Puyo.
Mario would throw colored capsules at three different colored viruses in a bottle, and if four of the same color of the virus and capsule matched vertically or horizontally, the virus would be exterminated, and the goal was to annihilate the virus.
The NES version is now available on Wii U and the Game Boy version on Nintendo 3DS!
However, the new "Dr. Mario World" is upside down!
The virus at the top of the screen is hit by capsules from the bottom.
The number of capsules has been changed from four to three, making it easier to play.
There is a limit to the number of capsules, and all the viruses must be eliminated within the limit.
You have to clear the stage by using your head like PuyoNazo Puyo.
The stage is cleared when all the viruses are eliminated.
The number of stars you get depends on how many capsules are left and how you erase them.
A stage full of tricks
There seem to be various tricks on the stage such as a turtle's crawlspace, bombs, and keyholes.
The number of capsules is limited, so you must use the tricks to your advantage.
Stages are based on a world system
"Dr. Mario World" has 5 worlds that can be played from the beginning.
The other worlds will be added one after another, but it is currently a mystery whether they will be opened as rewards for clearing stages, or whether they will be opened on a buy-one-get-one-free basis like in "Super Mario Run".
Tips for Strategy
Each doctor will be able to use his/her own original skills.
Use your skills to turn a pinch into an opportunity!
As you kill viruses, your gauge will accumulate, and you will be able to use Rainbow Capsules, which are effective against viruses of any color.
Use various support items to your advantage to clear the stage.
The challenge of the stage is based on the life system.
You challenge stages by consuming "hearts", or lives.
Of course, hearts are recovered over time, so don't waste them!
Diamonds are charged contents.
"Diamonds" can be purchased at the store and used in various ways.
Diamonds can be used to continue when you fail to clear a stage or to exchange items.
You can also use them to exchange items.
Doctor Scout
The title of the game is "Doctor Mario", but Mario is not the only doctor in this game.
Using coins and diamonds, you can scout out familiar characters such as Luigi, Princess Peach, Yoshi, Kinopio, and Bowser as doctors.
Each character has a different skill set, so choose the doctor that best suits the stage.
The effects of the skills are also different, so they are pleasing to the eye.
"Virus of the Day" is also available!
"Today's Virus", which depicts the heartwarming daily lives of Red, Blue, and Yellow, the viruses that are eliminated in "Dr. Mario World", is now available for download.
The game is scheduled to be distributed at a pace of about one a day until its release.
If you see too many cute viruses, you may be hesitant to exterminate them.
Distribution Date and Supported OS
"Dr. Mario World" will be released as a smartphone app for iOS and Android on July 10, 2019!
The game is free to download and partially free to play, with in-game purchases.
Pre-registration is now being accepted, so if you are an iOS user, please visit the App Store, and if you are an Android user, please visit Google Play!
