“Suika Game Planet” Pre-Release Review: 360 Degrees? Easier? Will 4-Player Co-Op Foster or Destroy Friendships?
Review

What is your favorite fruit? Mine is a pear.
We were given the opportunity to be among the first to play the new Suika Game Planet, which was suddenly announced during the "Nintendo Direct 9.12.2025" broadcast, where a huge amount of new game information was revealed. It's a new title that is simple, yet packed with new elements!

"Suika Game Planet" Hands-On Preview

"Suika Game Planet" is scheduled to be released in Winter 2025 for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
It's the latest title that retains the easy and simple gameplay of "Suika Game," which has surpassed 12 million cumulative downloads worldwide, while introducing players to a completely different stage.

The Saiga NAK editorial department was given the opportunity to have an early access preview of this "Suika Game Planet."
Fujii Yodan (@MTNRFG) takes on the challenge.

Although the concept is intuitive, we will once again explain the basic rules of "Suika Game Planet."

Players drop fruit from the character "Poppy," who orbits the circular planet.
The fruits are the same 11 variations as in "Suika Game": cherry, strawberry, grape, Dekopon, persimmon, apple, pear, peach, pineapple, melon, and watermelon.

When fruits of the same type collide, they evolve into a fruit one stage larger.
The goal is to aim for a high score by trying to make the largest fruit, the watermelon.

The biggest feature of "Suika Game Planet," whose development officially started in April 2025, is that the stage has changed from a conventional rectangular stage to a circular one.
Gravity is at work at the center of the circular stage, pulling the fruits toward it.
The difficulty of achieving evolution itself has decreased, as it is now possible to approach from 360 degrees.

His gaze was serious, exactly as if he were studying for an entrance exam.

Aim for a Score Increase with Super Evolution, or Continue to Play Calmly?

"Suika Game Planet" also adds a new element called Super Evolution.
As you evolve fruits, a gauge accumulates in the evolution circle on the bottom right...

...and you enter Super Evolution Time.
You can earn bonus scores based on the number of times you evolve fruits during this time.

The time limit for Super Evolution Time is reset every time you evolve a fruit, making it theoretically possible to continue indefinitely.
However, the balance is very tricky; carelessly repeating random placements can quickly lead to a game over.

The BGM also changes from the usual music to a cyber-sounding upbeat tune.
Even Fujii Yodan, who had been playing silently with a serious face, couldn't help but smile.

By the way, this music is not original; it was sourced from an external crowdsourcing service.
The "Suika Game BGM Collection" is also available on "Audiostock."

During Super Evolution Time, the fruits also flash brightly! Cute.

When Super Evolution Time ends, the bonus score is added immediately.
The fruits are also smiling. Cute.

...And after several minutes of stacking (?) fruits,
Fujii Yodan's planet is in a pinch!

The circular stage of "Suika Game Planet" has a force like surface tension working alongside gravity.
Though there is some tolerance, a warning appears if a fruit crosses the boundary!
If a fruit remains outside the stage, a countdown begins, and it's game over if you cannot bring it back.

In "Suika Game Planet," if you can fit the fruit back within the boundaries before the countdown ends, you can continue playing!
You no longer have to worry about the fruit bouncing up and resulting in an immediate game over, as could happen in the original "Suika Game."

And did you notice?
Fujii Yodan was only able to complete up to the melon in this trial play.

Fun 4-Player Co-op via Share Play!

The Nintendo Switch 2 version of "Suika Game Planet" supports the Game Share feature.
You can play with up to four people, even with those who do not own the game.
The guest player receiving the shared play can even use a standard Nintendo Switch console.

The multiplayer in "Suika Game Planet" is cooperative, not competitive.
A chaotic board is formed—a typical sight when four people play together for the first time.

The board is in major trouble, swept up by Super Evolution Time!
By the way, if the same fruits are dropped simultaneously in the same spot, they evolve as they fall, so playing in sync is essential!

And unfortunately, the game ended without being able to create a watermelon!
By the way, a score of 3,000 points is still a benchmark in this new title.
Although the circular stage in "Suika Game Planet" has a smaller area compared to the rectangular stage of "Suika Game," the fact that you can drop fruits from 360 degrees means that even beginners can easily enjoy evolving them.

"Suika Game Planet" Is Scheduled to Be Released in December 2025!

"Suika Game Planet" maintains the casual feel of its predecessor while showcasing a new way to play.
It may be more accurate to think of it as a spin-off rather than a sequel.

That said, it's full of pleasing elements, such as a prologue that plays when the game starts...

...the ability to view character data and various customization options.
It has certainly evolved.

"Suika Game Planet" is scheduled to be released for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 in December 2025.
