Over 400 amateur and professional players participated in the tournament, with the top 64 players advancing through a Swiss-draw format.
From there, a single-elimination tournament determined the inaugural champion.

I'm thrilled to become the inaugural champion of the first official solo tournament, as I think it means I'm the strongest player, at least for now.
There were some difficult moments and times when luck was on my side, but I believe pulling through to the end was the result of my hard work.
My teammate HHP and I had talked about wanting to face each other in the finals, so just being able to make that happen made me happy and it was a lot of fun. Next, I want to win the MONST Grand Prix.
