Nintendo has announced that it will add *Super Mario Sunshine* to *Nintendo GameCube Nintendo Classics* on Thursday, August 13, 2026.
*Nintendo GameCube Nintendo Classics* is available to players with a *Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack* subscription.
"Super Mario Sunshine" is coming to "Nintendo GameCube Nintendo Classics"!
"Super Mario Sunshine" is an action game for the Nintendo GameCube released in 2002.
Mario visits the southern paradise of Dolpic Island on vacation, but is wrongly accused of being the graffiti vandal who defaced the island.
To prove his innocence and recover the sun’s power—" Shine "—which was lost due to the graffiti, Mario promises to clean up the island and sets out to track down the real culprit.
The story unfolds as Mario adventures across Dolpic Island, using water-based actions—such as defeating enemies with water jets while carrying a “Pump” on his back and flying through the air.
A dedicated controller is also available

The Nintendo GameCube Controller, which lets you enjoy the game with the same feel as the original GameCube, is also available exclusively to “Nintendo Switch Online” subscribers.
It connects wirelessly to the Nintendo Switch 2 and features a “C Button” that provides instant access to in-game chat.
"Nintendo GameCube Nintendo Classics" is playable only on the Nintendo Switch 2.
In addition to “Super Mario Sunshine,” the collection includes “The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker,” “Pokémon XD: Dark Lugia,” and “Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance.”
