The Dangbei Atom smart laser projector was released in Japan on Friday, January 26, 2024. As always, I had the opportunity to test the actual device, so I will introduce it here.
This is the Dangbei Atom body. Above all, its standout feature is that it is thin!
The contents are as follows: In addition to the Dangbei Atom body, a dedicated AC adapter and remote control are included. It is a smart, streamlined configuration.
The size is very compact at 19.5cm x 19.5cm x 4.8cm. In particular, the thinness of less than 5cm is surprising.
The built-in dual 5W speakers, with one mounted on each side of the body, are compatible with Dolby Audio.
On the back of the body, there are screw holes for a stand and various certification marks. Since it does not include a built-in stand, you need to be a bit creative if you want to tilt it during use.
Now, let's turn it on! A powerful laser projects from the slim body.
Since the Dangbei Atom uses Google TV as its OS, let's first complete the initial settings, such as the Wi-Fi connection and Google account login. You can immediately enjoy familiar video streaming services such as Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video, Hulu, and Disney+.
Once the initial settings were finished, it projected beautifully. The brightness is 1200 ISO lumens, and it supports a screen size of 40 to 180 inches.

Of course, it is also equipped with autofocus and keystone correction functions up to plus or minus 30 degrees. If you cannot secure the desired distance from the wall you want to project on, you can consider installing it at a slight angle.
To utilize the built-in dual 5W speakers, which is one of the selling points of the Dangbei Atom, I will try the Bluetooth speaker mode.
The connection method is easy! After starting Bluetooth speaker mode on the Dangbei Atom, simply select the device from a source such as a smartphone.
After connecting, if you launch a game or music streaming service on your smartphone, you can enjoy immersive sound in no time. The projector quickly transforms into a speaker!
