The release date of " Megaton Class Musashi," a cooperative online robot action RPG from Level-5, is just a few days away.
The TV animation, which has been broadcast and distributed since October, has been attracting attention for its powerful action scenes, carefully rendered CG with robot textures, and exciting storyline that tickles the hearts of young boys.
In addition to the TV broadcast, the anime is being distributed on YouTube for an unlimited period of time, so if you are interested in the story, please watch it on " LEVEL5ch "!
The Nintendo Switch version of "Megaton Class Musashi" was available for preview at the "Tokyo Game Show 2021 Online" offline, and the editorial department of Saiga NAK was able to play it at the booth! The Saiga NAK editorial team was there to play the game!
And now, Level-5 has offered us a chance to try out the even more powerful Nintendo Switch version, "Megaton Class Musashi"!
As a fan of Level-5's games and having played the "Inazuma Eleven" and "Professor Layton" series in my younger days, I'd like to report on my megaton-class experience!
Megaton Class Musashi" Experience Report!
The editorial staff of Saiga NAK visited Level-5's special exhibit!
We greeted the person in charge and were shown to our seats to try out the game, where we saw the "Megaton Class Musashi" story mode play screen on the LCD!
I was immediately excited to see the graphics of the main character Yamato's room, which was full of high school boy-like atmosphere, but first, I decided to play the actual first story in the Story Mode!
Play the story mode!
The Story Mode experience begins in "Yamato's Room"!
Take control of Yamato and explore Akagi Town, the city where they live! Talking to people on the map will generate conversations and give you various information.
Enjoy full voice!
The story mode is fully vo iced by a cast of gorgeous voice actors ! You can enjoy the story more immersed in the story.
The story includes scenes that differ from the TV anime and additional scenes!
Relive the story of Yamato and his friends! A large number of dynamic, comic-style cut-ins are included. Some of the in-game animations that play during important scenes are new cuts from the TV anime, so even those who have already seen the TV anime can enjoy the game with a fresh perspective!
In addition, the game also includes additional cuts that were not discussed in the TV anime, as well as the game's original another story! You might be able to see an unexpected side of the character you are interested in...?
The time zone of the map can be changed!
In the story mode, time passes during exploration, and it can become evening or night, changing the cityscape from daytime to a different time zone!
Plus, you can change the time zone from the menu screen! Let's advance the time to night...
The shopping district, once bustling with customers and passersby, quickly turned into a nighttime town as signs of people dwindled and shutters were lowered! It is one of the ways to enjoy looking for small changes in the map.
(This is a convenient feature that allows you to change the time of day with a single menu operation, but from the perspective of a player who knows what is going on in this world, it gives me mixed feelings...)
As already told, 99.9% of humanity in this world has already been destroyed by the attack of the alien force Draktar, and the city where Yamato and his friends live is nothing but a false peace created in a shelter.
Yamato and Ryugo enter the underground base "Oblivion Bay" guided by Teru. There, they see " Musashi," one of the giant robots called "Rogue," the ultimate weapon to fight against aliens.
And that's the end of the story experience! Now it's time to move on to "customize" before challenging the battle!
Customize your Rogue!
Megaton Musashi" allows you to customize your rogue to your liking in every detail!
"In the Rogue H anger, you can change your status (specs), such as attack power and mobility, by converting the parts and weapons you have acquired.
Weapons have different attributes, so you can get the upper hand in battle by changing your equipment to match the mission and enemy type!
Even the texture, such as the metallic coating and reflection, can be adjusted! Whether you want your fighter to look rusty and scratched, or shiny and polished, is entirely up to you!
Strengthen your skills and special moves!
"Circuit Development " allows you to spend the materials you obtain to enhance your rogue's performance step by step! The number of circuits that can be developed increases as the story progresses, so keep expanding your skill map!
However, circuit development alone is not enough to complete the enhancement of your rogue. What you need to do is to customize the " motherboard ".
The "motherboard" allows you to set and reconfigure circuits such as memory and CPU to obtain various effects and customize special moves! You can also augment the circuits with cooling fans and spare batteries, so you can enhance the circuits more efficiently depending on how you arrange them!
Develop new parts in the laboratory!
By defeating enemies in missions, you can obtain parts and weapons of various rarities. There are multiple levels of rarity, such as Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, and Legendary, and the higher the rank, the higher the specs!
In the " Laboratory," new parts can be developed using development materials, and parts and weapons of a certain rarity can be upgraded. You can also use the "Recycle" function to disassemble your junk parts and weapons to obtain junk materials!
Based on the advice of the person in charge, I have completed the customization of my Rogue! The metallic texture is nice. (Satisfied).
Now that the aircraft is ready, it's time to take on the mission!
Cooperation and multiplayer!
The "Megaton Class Musashi" can be played by up to three players simultaneously, both online and locally! Collect materials efficiently in cooperative battles with your friends and take on challenging missions! Local communication is only available for the Nintendo Switch version.
In the previous test, we played by ourselves, but this time we will be playing cooperatively with a Level-5 representative!
This time, we will try the free mission "MI-14 Ambush," with the person in charge in PLAYER 1 and the author in PLAYER 2, and we are ready to go!
Let the battle against the aliens begin!
The players will run through the field to the indicated mission point, clearing away the "drakkar" that block their way.
You can't miss the dialogue between the two characters when playing as two players!
When using melee weapons, perform combos with a barrage of hits, while remote or airborne enemies can be attacked by shooting or launching special moves! With the various functions built into the Rogue, you can unleash the best attacks according to the battle situation!
However, the author, who still does not know how to use the controls, only hits with melee attacks....
I was on the verge of losing my strength because I couldn't avoid enemy attacks, and the other was trying to help me out by saying, "You can recover by pressing the ▲ button while reaping the enemy's glory! The person in charge of the game helped me out, saying, "You can recover by pressing the ▲ button! He was very reassuring.
I managed to get myself back on my feet, and we finally entered the boss battle!
Defeat the area boss!
A large number of small drakters fused together as soon as they emitted light, and the final boss of the mission, the "Club Fusion Type" appeared! This is a tough one...!
I fought back by using both remote and melee attacks, but the boss was so strong that it was difficult to reduce its strength. As I struggled, the person in charge gave me some advice!
"Use the 'Kabuki Function'! "
I see...I see! By the way, what is the "Kabuki Function"?
The super-sized special move "Kabuki Function"!
Rogue can use a variety of special moves during battle, but the " Kabuki Function" can only be used once during a single mission. It is a super-sized special move that can be called a trump card, delivering a powerful blow at the critical moment!
First, the person in charge of the mission demonstrates the "Kabuki Function"!
The carpet bombardment of the Infinity Assault Rush did a lot of damage! The performance was also very cool...!
I followed the manual to prepare for activation!
Switching to "cockpit mode" puts you in the cockpit! The violently shaking seat and accessories add to the realism...!
Select the "Kabuki Function," aim at the enemy, and... activate!
The blade glows with a terrible light, and the lightning sword "Muramasa" bursts forth! The author shouted out the name of the technique at the same time as Yamato.
Level-5's technique names always make me want to read them out loud.
Two super special moves in a row, dealing massive damage to the club fusion type! After that, the two of us folded in together, seizing every chance we had to turn the tables, and we successfully defeated it!
On the result screen, the MVP is awarded to the player who contributed the most in the multiplayer game. This time, of course, the MVP was the person in charge.
You can see the rewards for clearing the mission and the equipment that dropped!
We're looking forward to strengthening our rogue with the materials we've collected and taking on further missions... but that's it for this test drive!
