The British-made gaming chair “Boulies Master Rex,” which we introduced previously...
It’s been almost a year since we published our review in December 2025... Wait, has it really been a year already!?
I haven’t even had time to be surprised by how quickly time has flown, but the chair brand “ Boulies ” has been through the same journey.
So, this time I attended the “Boulies 1st Anniversary of Entry into the Japanese Market: Business Strategy Presentation ” and got to try out the new product, the “Boulies Master Rex 2026”!
The Future Boulies Aims For, One Year After Entering the Japanese Market

…And so, I made my way to the “Boulies 1st Anniversary of Entry into the Japanese Market Business Strategy Presentation”!

The event began with an online presentation by Mr. Bao Chenfei, Representative Director and CEO of Boulies Co., Ltd.

Mr. Bao explained that he had been selling office chairs and gaming chairs on Amazon UK since 2015.
Driven by the question, “Why are gaming chairs limited to gaming rooms?”, he founded BOULIES LTD in 2017.

It has been one year since Boulies entered the Japanese market.
The company has achieved sales of 40 million yen, and both media coverage and search volumes related to Boulies are reportedly on the rise.
Moving forward, the company plans to develop products tailored to Japanese living spaces and usage habits, and has even announced plans to release limited-edition models in collaboration with Japanese IPs!
It looks like Boulies will be catching our attention more and more in the future.
The new product, “Boulies Master Rex 2026,” is here!

Next, Ms. Wu Mengjie, General Manager of Business Operations at Boulies Co., Ltd., introduced the new product, the “Boulies Master Rex 2026.”
The concept is “work, gaming, and rest.”

This product is the successor to the “Boulies Master Rex,” which was previously featured in Saiga NAK.
While retaining its appealing features—such as a recline angle of up to 165° and a retractable footrest—the details have been updated.
6D armrests that rotate 360 degrees!?

Let’s start by introducing the armrests, arguably the standout feature of the “Boulies Master Rex 2026.”
The previous model’s 4D armrests could be adjusted for “height,” “forward/backward,” “left/right,” and “angle,” but now…
Saiga NAKFrom the standard position...
Saiga NAKSwivel...
Saiga NAK180 degrees!
Saiga NAKIt spins right around!
...and just like that, it can rotate a full 360 degrees.
Whether you’re typing, gaming, using your smartphone, or reading—even when sitting in the same chair, the optimal elbow position varies depending on the situation.

Next, Kenji Nomura, an audiovisual critic who also serves as a judge for the VGP Awards, took the stage.
Mr. Nomura, who has been a longtime fan of Boulies chairs, shared his impressions and highlighted the appeal of the “Boulies Master Rex 2026” after trying it out for himself.

Mr. Nomura described the “Boulies Master Rex 2026”’s 6D armrests as “armrests that cater to the whims of even the most demanding users.”

The remaining “1D” refers to the ability to tilt the armrests upward by approximately 20 degrees.
If your desk is positioned high, your arms will rise naturally, and this feature seems to work well in conjunction with the reclining function, which will be discussed later.
Features from the previous model are also retained

As you can see, it also features the retractable footrest found on the previous model.

Mr. Nomura also said, “I actually tried sleeping in it, and there were no issues.”
For gamers, sleeping in a gaming chair is probably part of everyday life, but whether or not there’s a footrest makes a big difference in how comfortable it is to sleep.

Also, like the previous model, the lumbar support is built into the backrest rather than being a separate cushion.
Opinions may vary on this, but it’s a clear advantage not having to worry about the cushion slipping down or having to readjust its position every time you sit down.

The headrest is secured only by rubber straps, so it can be removed in a second.
Once you take it off, the “gaming chair” vibe disappears instantly.
Four color options, two upholstery types

This is another matter of personal preference, but I personally love the fabric option.
Mr. Nomura also says he prefers fabric for long sitting sessions, noting, “Even after using it for about three years, it hasn’t sagged even once.”
He also says that after using his Boulies chair for half a year, it still looks brand-new with virtually no dents.
Pre-sales are now underway on Makuake with up to 49% off!
The “Boulies Master Rex 2026” is currently available for pre-order on the crowdfunding platform “Makuake” until Monday, December 28, 2026.
Unfortunately, the super early-bird discount—limited to 35 units—has ended, but you can still back the project at an early-bird price of 41,800 yen (tax included), a 43% discount. Plus, if you back the project by 10:59 a.m. on October 23, 2026, you’ll receive the bonus of an extra year added to the standard warranty period.
Products purchased through this campaign are scheduled to be delivered by the end of February 2027.

Planned Display at Physical Stores
Additionally, Boulies products are scheduled to be on display in the Makuake exhibition area inside the Yodobashi Camera Multimedia Akiba store from Thursday, October 29, 2026, through Wednesday, December 2, 2026.
Since the feel and fit of a gaming chair are important when you actually sit in it, if you’re even slightly interested, we recommend trying it out before making a purchase.
