We have sent you a report on the " OSAKA VALORANT FES" event held the other day, and since this " OSAKA VALORANT FES " was the largest VALORANT event ever held, we thought you might be interested to know how it came to be held. We are sure that everyone is curious about how it came to be held.
We interviewed " REDEE " manager " Hayato Furukawa " about the event this time!
What was the idea behind the VALORANT FES?
Please tell us why you decided to hold VALORANT FES this time.
There are three reasons. The first one is that "REDEE" opened in March 2020, and our business model is to rent out the entire offline event facility, but since Corona started right after we opened, we have never had anyone rent it out.
One of the reasons was that we wanted to create a showcase that would support our business by telling customers what they can do at our store and asking them if they would like to rent our store for this kind of use.
Secondly, we talked with Red Bull, the sponsor of the event, and we thought it would be great if they would support this kind of event and promote Red Bull to their users, so we are doing this as part of our promotional activities.
Thirdly, there are a lot of people in REDEE who like e-sports and want to play such games.
So we wanted to create a place where the main arena would be filled with people, where everyone could enjoy watching a single game tournament and be enthusiastic about it.
Tatsuya: How did you feel after the first and second days of the event?
I feel that the guests are happy.
To be honest, we are the only company in the world and in Japan that has held a VALORANT event on this scale.
We are the only company in the world and in Japan that has held a VALORANT event on this scale. This is because the VALORANT game started a year and a half ago, and Corona started to be popular a year and a half ago.
Tëm, what is the appeal of VALORANT?
Simply, it is based on Counter-Strike (*1) and other good old FPS games, but with the concept of skill mixed in, so there is skill and shooting.
But VALORANT is extremely well-balanced, and since you can't compete only on skill, there are a lot of elements of strategy, and I think that's where the users get hooked. I think this is the point where users are hooked on the game.
*1) An FPS game released in 2000 that focuses on the battle between terrorists and anti-terrorist special forces.
We want to expand the culture of spectating e-sports events.
Tatsuya: Lastly, looking back on this past year, what are your aspirations for the coming year?
First of all, many companies became aware of REDEE through the events we held, and I believe that through the VALORANT FES, we were able to present how to utilize the facilities in a way that is easy to understand.
We hope that the number of companies and individuals who are interested in holding events here will increase.
The other thing is exactly what I was thinking about, but I have a lot to reflect on after having done this event for the first time.
I would like to hold more interesting events including the stage direction.
I hope that starting with " REDEE " in Osaka, many people will say that it is interesting to watch e-sports events.
Personally, I hope that the people who participated in this event will find it so interesting that they will want to come back again, and that they will want us to hold another event like this one. I am not sure if it will be titled VALORANT or something else.
Keep your eyes on REDEE!
Thank you for the interview!
We learned that the " OSAKA VALORANT FES " is an event that was realized from REDEE's various thoughts on how to promote the appeal of e-sports to the world.
Through this interview, we are looking forward to seeing how " Hayato Furukawa," the manager of REDEE, will promote e-sports culture to the rest of the country and the world in the future.
If you are interested in spreading the word about e-sports, or if you are just a fan of e-sports, why don't you come to REDEE and see for yourself!
