Many Clever Takes on "Chū" (Inside/Chinese/Middle)! Results Announced for the 28th Famicom National Poll: "Which Game Comes to Mind for 'Chū'?"

Many Clever Takes on
News

2024 has entered February. January had the New Year's holidays, but when you think that 1/12 of the year is already over, time really passes quickly.
While this winter is said to be a mild winter and Daikan (the coldest day on the calendar) has passed, just when you think it might get warm early, temperatures in the Kanto region are apparently going to drop from now on, and there is a possibility of snow early next week.
No matter how many cold weather measures you take, when it gets sharply colder, you tend to fall ill, so unless you have an absolutely unavoidable errand, staying in a warm room is the best.
And the best companion for time at home has to be games!
While a rush of new titles is arriving, retro games boast unchanging popularity and fun among them. Speaking of the game console for which many such retro games were released, it is the Famicom.
With the Famicom 40th Anniversary celebration in full swing, many projects are being implemented, but the weekly highlight has to be the "Famicom National Poll"!
The results for the 28th poll, "Which Game Comes to Mind for 'Chū'?", have been announced this week as well!

The results for the 28th Famicom National Poll, "Which Game Comes to Mind for 'Chū'?", have been announced, and the top 20 rankings are published on the Famicom 40th Anniversary Campaign Site!

Similar to "Wa" (Japanese) from two weeks ago and "Yō" (Western) from last time, hearing "Chū" resulted in many Chinese-style titles ranking in, but the one that won the fierce battle was Super Chinese with 15.9% of the votes! It is exactly that title and game content.
Chasing it in 2nd place was Yie Ar Kung-Fu with 13.9% of the votes, and 3rd place was Mahjong with 10.8% of the votes, resulting in a close race without much of a gap.
By the way, Tatakae!! Ramenman: Sakuretsu Chōjin 102 Gei, which the writer voted for, was in 4th place with 10.4% of the votes! The character "Chū" on his forehead is a shared image across all generations!

And this time as well, just like Donkey Kong Jr. Math during the "Wa" poll or Ide Yōsuke Meijin no Jissen Mahjong during the "Yō" poll, cleverly twisted "Chū" titles have also ranked in, and among them, the one that ranked high in 6th place was Door Door!
While part of it is the gameplay of trapping monsters "inside" (chū) doors, another reason it gathered votes seems to be that it is a title created by game creator Koichi Nakamura, who would later work on the Dragon Quest series.
Other titles that have the character "Chū" inside the title also ranked in, but the inclusion of Idol Hotline: Nakayama Miho no Tokimeki High School and Tantei Jingūji Saburō: Shinjuku Chūō Kōen Satsujin Jiken is truly expected of Famicom fans!

Setsubun Is Coming Soon! Voting Begins for "Which Game Comes to Mind for 'Oni' (Demons/Ogres)?"!

The end of the 28th poll means that the 29th poll has begun.
Voting for the 29th "Famicom National Poll" has started from February 1, 2024 (Thursday)! This time's theme is "Which Game Comes to Mind for 'Oni'?"!

Since February 3 is "Setsubun," which is an event where you throw fortune beans at demons to beat them down (note: the writer's interpretation), it is the perfect timing for the theme "Which Game Comes to Mind for 'Oni'?".
In Japan, the northeast direction is the demon's gate, and demons have a strong image of having cow horns and wearing tiger-striped pants, but vampires are also "oni" if you think about it, and even if you do not get constrained by the existence of "oni," titles that use the character "Oni" are of course acceptable!
Cast your fair vote for the title you have the strongest memories of that relates to "Oni"!

This time as well, you can vote from the "Famicom National Poll" page on the campaign site after logging into your Nintendo Account.
Even if you happen to forget the title, don't worry as candidates will appear if you input a part of the title.
The voting period for the 29th "Famicom National Poll" is until February 7, 2024 (Wednesday) 11:59 PM, and the results announcement is scheduled for February 8, 2024 (Thursday)!

For the writer, it is a Famicom Disk System title, but I voted for the straightforward Famicom Mukashibanashi: Shin Onigashima!
It is quite interesting, but since its playability cannot be called user-friendly by today's standards, the Super Famicom version is also recommended! The original version is included in it too!
