Esports and Trash Picking Unite! e-SpoGOMI

PR TIMES
Among the 10 participating teams, "Team Runners" emerged victorious, having collected 5.055kg of trash.
They were in 6th place after the first half but made a dramatic comeback in the second half by collecting over 4kg of trash, securing a landslide victory with a 138-point lead over the runner-up.
They commented, "We were surprised by how much trash there was, more than we expected. From now on, we want to continue to improve our gaming skills too!"
"Puyo Puyo Champions," held during halftime between the first and second halves of the trash picking, was also a huge hit!
A second-grade participant defeated adults one after another, achieving the largest combo count of 6 chains in the tournament, filling the venue with surprise and cheers.
The total amount of trash collected this time was 22.833kg.
Even seemingly clean areas like railway lines, parks, and parking lots reportedly had many discarded cigarette butts.

Esports × Trash Picking!?
e-SpoGOMI is an initiative that combines "SpoGOMI," a completely new sport originating from Japan that adds an element of sport to trash picking activities, transforming traditional community service into a "competition," and "esports," competitive gaming using computers.
Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are targets set for creating a sustainable society, requires efforts from people of all ages, genders, and various fields.
e-SpoGOMI was created as a completely new form of environmental conservation activity, aiming to appeal to new demographics such as people who enjoy games and children.
During the event, a game tournament is held during halftime between the first and second halves of the trash picking. The winning team receives items like additional tongs to give them an advantage in the second half's trash picking.
One of the highlights is seeing how the results of the game tournament affect the subsequent trash picking.
