Mr. Utsunomiya announced Pokémon’s progress in the healthcare sector, its initiatives related to sleep, and new projects, products, and campaigns.
He also revealed the results of the “National Sleep Prefecture Grand Prix 2026,” a survey that analyzed sleep data and questionnaire responses from “Pokémon Sleep” to rank the actual sleep patterns of people living in all 47 prefectures and highlight the differences between them.
The survey covered a whopping 43,000 people!
The top three in the overall rankings are...
- 1st Place: Miyazaki Prefecture
- 2nd Place: Niigata Prefecture
- 3rd Place: Fukui Prefecture
...That’s the result!
The rankings were determined based on five criteria: sleep duration, ease of falling asleep, sleep efficiency, regular sleep patterns, and sleep satisfaction!

A “Stay in a Poké Ball ” campaign, a collaboration between “Pokémon Sleep” and “NOT A HOTEL,” has been announced!

Saiga NAKMiyagi Prefecture, where Hongo-san is from, ranked 19th.
Saiga NAK When asked, “What comes to mind when you think of sleep in Miyagi Prefecture?” he replied, “That doesn’t really ring a bell! (laughs)”
He also tied his answer to Pokémon, saying, “When I’m worried that work the next day will be tough, I end up having nightmares and think, ‘Ugh, I don’t want to wake up tomorrow…’ so I’d love for Munna or Mushana to use ‘Dream Eater’ on me.”
Saiga NAKMie Prefecture, Ms. Teraya’s home prefecture, ranked 26th.
Saiga NAK As the results indicated that residents are “early to bed, early to rise, and love baths,” the percentage of people who take leisurely baths ranked 5th nationwide.
In response to this, she reflected on her relaxation time, saying, “We tend to talk a lot after getting into bed.”
Saiga NAK Osaka Prefecture, the hometown of Ms. Matsumura and Ace, ranked 39th.
With results showing Osaka as a classic “night owl” region—ranking 2nd in walking at least five days a week and 4th in time spent outdoors—Ace commented, “I moved to Tokyo last year, and there are so many places to go out at night in the city.”
Saiga NAKMs. Matsumura also commented, “People from Osaka are active, impatient, and very curious. That’s why their schedules are irregular. I was very active myself when I was in Osaka,” and seemed to agree with the results.
“Pokémon × Healthcare”! Looking Back on the History of Pokémon and Healthcare
There was also a segment where the guests looked back on 30 years of Pokémon and healthcare—spanning from 1996—along with their personal memories.
Over the course of the 30th anniversary, various healthcare items and apps have been released.
When the actual “Pocket Pikachu”—released in 1998—made an appearance, Mr. Hongo couldn’t help but react.
Memories of that time came flooding back along with a sense of nostalgia.
Hongo shared a photo from when he visited the very first Pokémon Center, which opened in Nihonbashi!
The photo of him posing for a commemorative photo with a Charizard footprint clearly shows just how much he loves Pokémon.
Teraya chose a photo of himself playing amateur baseball.
"Pokémon GO" was released in 2016.
At the time, due to a Yoshimoto rule that prohibited him from forming a new comedy duo for six months after dissolving his previous one, he reportedly spent the entire six months playing “Pokémon GO.”
Looking back on the photo, he recalled that they used to decide who would take home the larger props by playing rock-paper-scissors, and since the props made it hard to play “Pokémon GO,” they took the game very seriously.
Ace chose a photo from 2023—the year he got married and made it to the semifinals of the M-1 Grand Prix.
2023 was the year “Pokémon Sleep” was released.
When he remarked, “The fireworks are about as round as a Marill,” Hongo immediately quipped, “Isn’t that Pokémon reference a bit too forced!?” (laughs), and the audience erupted in laughter.
Matsumura chose a photo from when she gave birth to a baby girl and became “Mama Ringo.”
2026 marks the 30th anniversary of Pokémon.
Matsumura, who had been playing “Pokémon Sleep” since its release, shared a story about how, while struggling with childcare, the app’s recording feature captured the sounds of her baby crying at night—which made mornings a happy time for her.
“I highly recommend ‘Pokémon Sleep’ to moms and dads all over the country!” she said, explaining how she’s mindful of her sleep habits even while juggling the challenges of parenting.

The talk session kicked off with the topic, “What’s a dream you want to make come true by the end of this year?”
Mr. Hongo commented, “I want to win a Pokémon battle against my nephew!”
He explained that they use Pokémon plush toys for their battles, but he hasn’t won a single one yet. He spoke enthusiastically about his desire to teach his nephew about the challenges of competition and the lessons to be learned from losing.
When asked, “What are your sleep-related concerns?” Ms. Matsumura replied, “I have trouble sleeping soundly.”
Ms. Matsumura, who is in the thick of raising her children, said that because she can’t sleep soundly, she’s taking steps to improve her sleep quality—also for the sake of “Pokémon Sleep.”
She shared, “Being able to visualize my sleep using ‘Pokémon Sleep’ gave me the motivation to reevaluate my sleep habits!”
Finally, the Batteries were asked, “What tips do you have for getting ready for bed?”
Ace commented, “I fall asleep while thinking about things.”
When he explained, “Thinking isn’t fun, so since it’s not fun, I just end up falling asleep on my own,” Teraya couldn’t help but let out a wry smile.
Teraya replied, “Before I go to sleep, I check to see if there are any moves I can use even while asleep, like sleep-talking or snoring.”
Hongo immediately reacted with, “Those are Pokémon moves…!”—a moment that really got the crowd excited.
In response to his rapid-fire comment—"Using 'Sleep' fully restores HP, but if you equip a 'Berry' as an item, it heals you even while 'Sleeping'—" the audience burst into laughter at the reaction: "Now we know Mr. Teraya is a serious competitive player (lol)."
