To commemorate the release of Konami Digital Entertainment's "Suikoden I&II HD Remaster: Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars" (hereafter, Suikoden I & II HD Remaster), a "Suikoden I & II HD Remaster" × Pasela Collaboration was held from Tuesday, February 25 to Monday, March 31, 2025!
This report covers the media talk show and advance tasting session held prior to the collaboration!
Creators Talk About the First Collaboration Menu Items

- Suikoden Series Producer Rui Naito
- Suikoden IP & Game Director Takahiro Sakiyama
- Suikoden I & II Director Tatsuya Ogushi
The three individuals listed above took the stage for the talk show.
As this was their first karaoke collaboration, Sakiyama oversaw the menus and drinks as the lead.

Sakiyama : This was the first time I oversaw collaboration food and drinks for the Suikoden series.
I've overseen various things before, but this was my first time overseeing food.
In particular, it was very enjoyable to recreate "Gremio's Stew," a food item from the Suikoden series game world.
― Having actually tasted it, which menu was your favorite, Sakiyama?
Sakiyama : My favorite is this "Gremio's Stew."
It's a special stew with a recipe that could be obtained in "Suikoden II" by meeting certain conditions.
The ingredients for that included pork, shrimp, etc., in a mixed stew, but this time we prepared it to recreate the stew Gremio makes at the beginning of "Suikoden I."
It was based on an illustration newly drawn by Kawano, and in the rough draft, there was a design idea that included a whole roasted chicken, so we incorporated that element to complete this "Gremio's Stew."
Also, since the color of the stew Gremio cooks at the beginning of "Suikoden I" was a brown pixel sprite color, we encourage you to check it out when you play "Suikoden I & II HD Remaster".

― How about you, Naito?
Naito : When you think of Pasela, you think of honey toast, so I think "Mukumuku's Petite Honey Toast" was my favorite.
This time it featured only Mukumuku.
It also had delicious vanilla ice cream on top!

― What menu item did you like, Ogushi?
Ogushi : I also wanted to say "Gremio's Stew," but what I found interesting about this collaboration was the "Starting Crest Plate."
I thought putting the two crests between bread slices and eating them as one was a very interesting idea.
Naito : Even if they had never played the game at all, we hoped they would visit and at least experience a part of Suikoden.
Of course, for those who were already playing Suikoden, we hoped they would get excited talking about the old days before the remaster's release, and after release, we encouraged them to visit while playing the game and keep trying the menu items here!
There were also many types of drinks, so completing them all might have been difficult, but we appreciated their support.
It seems it was Pasela's idea to combine the "Shining Shield Rune" and "Black Sword Rune" as burger buns, and the production staff were surprised, saying, "Amazing!"
"Suikoden I & II HD Remaster" Discussion at the Talk Show
The Production Team's Recommendation was "Cooking Battle"

In "Suikoden II," when you recruit the chef Hai Yo, an event mini-game called "Cooking Battle" is available.
In the remastered version, some of the dialogue was changed, but since the judges for the "Cooking Battle" are chosen randomly, it seems players might not easily see all of the dialogue.
As a mini-game with a high level of polish, the production team highly recommended it, saying, “You can see an unexpected side of the characters, and it fully demonstrates the strength of Suikoden, where many characters appear.”.
Game Changes and Appeal

Naito : Regarding the sound effects, which were rich even in the original, we worked to ensure players could experience the original feel as much as possible.
Footsteps, water sounds, insect sounds, etc., were also added in a more immersive environment.
The menu screen and UI were also changed to be easier to see and use, and while keeping the strengths of the original battle system, we added easy-to-play features such as double speed and battle shortcut functions.
Sakiyama : Regarding the characters, all the characters in "Suikoden I" were newly drawn by Kawano.
Not just for the opening, but over 130 graphics that appear during conversations were all newly drawn!
I believe the fun of Suikoden is being able to collect 108 characters, think about your own combinations, and enjoy those battles.
I sincerely hoped players would enjoy it.
Ogushi : Each character has their own story, and you can learn about the characters' stories when you recruit them as companions.
For those who were playing Suikoden for the first time with the remastered version, we hoped they would enjoy finding the characters who appear in the collaboration cafe within the game.
