The "Tokyo Game Show 2023 " (TGS2023), one of Japan's largest video game festivals, was held in September 2023. The "FINAL FANTASY" series is one of Square Enix's most popular titles. The seventh title in the series, "FINAL FANTASY VII," will be remade as a large-scale HD game in three parts, which has been a big topic of conversation for several years. The first game was released in April 2020 and became a blockbuster hit, recording sales of over 5 million units with its overwhelming graphics quality and in-depth storyline. In 2023, the release of the second game was announced, and information was released that the game could be played at TGS2023. We visited the Square Enix booth where " FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH ", the second FF7 remake, was on display!

The Square Enix booth is the largest of all the exhibits!

After completing the admission procedures, I went straight to the Square Enix booth! Each company has its own booth area, but the size of the booth was overwhelmingly large, as if it were made up of several booths of other major game companies. It was probably the largest booth ever seen at TGS.

The seats available in the test play area were also one of the largest, and the number of games on display was in the class of 100 for FF7 alone! This number, not including the exhibits of other development titles, is probably the largest ever, too...? The exhibition was so enthusiastic that one would have thought it was the largest ever, even without including the exhibits of other titles in development!

Inside the booth, there was a display of "Hardy Daytona," the car ridden by Cloud, the main character of "FINAL FANTASY VII. The "Hardy Daytona" was recreated in great detail and looks very cool!

Trying out FF7REBIRTH!

I arrived at the venue on Business Day, but "FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH" was so popular that the waiting time was already over 60 minutes. Unlike the General Public Days, the Business Days are open only to companies involved in the game industry, and there are fewer visitors than the General Public Days, so there is an advantage of not having to wait too long to try out the game. (On average, you can play most games without a numbered ticket if you wait 15 to 20 minutes.) Even on Business Day, the waiting time exceeded 60 minutes, despite the fact that the number of test play tables was the largest ever with 100 exhibits! This popularity shows that Square Enix, the developer of FF7, has a lot of users with high expectations for FF7.

I don't want to describe too much about the game content because I want to consider spoilers, etc., but the quality and game content exceeded my expectations, and I can't wait to play the whole thing on the release date! The contents of the game made me think "I can't wait to play the whole thing on the release date! "FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH" will be released on Thursday, February 29, 2024, so whether you were able to play it at the event or haven't played it yet but are waiting for its release, don't miss out! I am sure you will have a new adventure waiting for you, even more than what you have done so far.
