I visited the VIP lounge, which only rank Platinum and Diamond users can enter, at the "Google Play" booth at TGS 2023!

Tokyo Game Show 2023 (TGS2023), held in September 2023, featured a variety of games distributed through Google Play, a comprehensive application service provided by Google. In the "Google Play" booth, there were lounge spaces in various areas of the venue that were available only to those who met certain conditions. I was able to meet the requirements this time, so I actually spent some time in the lounge at the Google Play booth at TGS2023!

Terms and Conditions for VIP Booth Use and Google Play Status

To enter the VIP lounge at the "Google Play" booth, you must have reached " Platinum " or " Diamond" membership status in Google Play. The membership status will be raised by using charged contents in games and applications distributed by Google Play.

In addition, Google Play service members will receive a portion of their usage fees in the form of points when they use charged content in eligible apps. The points can be used to obtain charged content within the application, or the points can be converted to credits within Google Play. Points can of course be used for in-app purchases of games, but they can also be used to purchase coins for LINE Stamps or for video streaming content such as YouTube's "SuperChat" and "Membership". Membership status is renewed annually.

The membership status is renewed every year, but since I was already a heavy user with Diamond membership status for the next year and beyond, I was able to use the VIP lounge without any problem.

The event at the Google Play booth was a stamp rally, where visitors went to booths where companies had titles available in the service and used the stamps they received there to participate in the event. Since the author was a Diamond and Platinum member, he was able to participate without collecting stamps for the first time and was entered into a drawing for various gifts upon participation.

To the Lounge

Before going to the lounge, you need to go through the aforementioned event registration process, and if you are a VIP member, you will be given a "VIP wristband" that allows you to enter and leave the lounge freely. During the check-in process, I was also presented with a code for 1,000 Google Play points as a check-in bonus for high status members.

Upon entering the lounge, I was guided by a staff member and given a bottle of mineral water in a limited-edition plastic bottle decorated with popular game titles available in Google Play. The lounge had multiple seating areas and we were allowed to sit wherever we wanted, and there were also fans and other items that would be nice to have at the venue. This space was much appreciated as Makuhari Messe during TGS is often a scorching hot and very painful environment to be in.

Google Play" was running a large scale lounge service for heavy users along with the event, and I saw similar efforts at other companies' booths. I have charged a lot in the past, but I felt that Google Play is a service that gives back to those who use it a lot, and it is great that they offer this kind of service not only in games and apps, but also in offline venues. Also, the lounges that were set up were not only in the main stage, which the author used, but also in several other locations, so it was attractive that there were points throughout the venue where you could take a short break.

This lounge service is just a limited service, but Google Play offers many other rewards for users of charged content. If you use a lot of charged contents and do not know this service yet, please try to use Google Play Points service! Since I learned about this service, I have been able to expand my horizons by using points to pay not only for my regular game purchases but also for services I don't use very often!
