Tripearl Games, an up-and-coming studio from South Korea, exhibited at Tokyo Game Show 2023 (TGS2023), one of the largest game festivals in Japan, held from September 21 (Thu.) to 24 (Sun.), 2023. We will report on the play report of "V.E.D.A.," which is scheduled to be released in 2024.
Visit "KOREA PAVILION
I casually stopped by the "Korea Pavilion" booth, but what caught my attention was the "Korea Pavilion. When I saw the booth, I wondered if it was mainly for mobile games, but when I looked around, I noticed that there were a number of console (CS) games on display. The contents included side-scrolling games and VR games, and it was impressive to see how each company was trying to make a strong appeal in the limited space.
The booth that caught my eye the most was Tripearl Games, an up-and-coming studio from South Korea. The staff at the booth told me that the studio had only been in business for less than two years, but the staff members were veterans with an average of 20 years of experience in the game industry. The studio's strength lies in its ability to consistently produce high quality games, with staff capable of handling development, design, music, and other mainstays of production.
Tripearl Games presented " V.E.D.A. " at TGS. This title was Japan's first "Soul-Like" action-RPG, which combines the combat style inspired by the "Soul-Like" action genre with the growth elements of the "Rogue-Lite" action-RPG genre. It was an action RPG. The game was designed to be relatively challenging like a soul-like game, but with a roguelite-style growth element, so that players who are not very good at controlling games, including action games, can enjoy the game. This was designed with the intention of allowing those who have wanted to play soul-like games but have given up on them because they felt they were too difficult, or those who have given up on them because of the difficulty level, to enjoy the game to the end. While respecting each genre, the game embodies Tripearl Games' belief of " delivering games that anyone can play without stress " and its desire to convey this to players. The CEO of Tripearl Games, Mr. Manson Jeong, himself, told us that this is the embodiment of Tripearl Games' belief that they want to convey to their players their desire to "deliver games that everyone can play without stress.
V.E.D.A." test drive!
The concept of the game takes place in a post-apocalyptic world. This world collapsed in a war involving the entire human race, and the survivors are managed for survival by the super AI "V.E.D.A". The story of the trial version begins with the protagonist wearing a powered suit like a reinforced exoskeleton, connected to the "V.E.D.A." combat training program, and training for combat according to its instructions. The story of the game begins when the player connects to the "V.E.D.A." combat training program and follows the instructions of the program to train for combat.
The creature's existence is also a secret, as Mr. Manson explained to us. The existence of the super AI called "V.E.D.A." itself also hides a mystery, and the main character himself has questions about the environment that surrounds him and a plan to confront the crises and conspiracies that swirl around him. The protagonist himself has questions about the environment that surrounds him, and he is also confronted with the crises and conspiracies that swirl around him.
The demo version of the game, which is the most important part of the game, has a good action feel with soul-like elements, but even I, who am not a fan of action games, was not confused when playing the game and found the system refreshing and enjoyable. For example, I often fail at "parry," which is an important action in other soul-like games, but in "V.E.D.A." I succeeded many times, and there were many exciting moments when I was playing. This is one of the proofs that the "Soul Light" style that the studio truly wants to convey is well expressed in this game.
V.E.D.A." is scheduled for release in 2024!
The game's graphics are being developed using Unreal Engine 5, and the quality of the graphics is certainly high. The game is still under development, so we can't help but look forward to seeing how great the game experience will be when the full version is released. V.E.D.A." will be available on PC, PS5, Xbox X/S, and mobile platforms, with a release date in the second half of 2024. Tripearl Games has an official channel on YouTube, which includes a trailer and other videos of the game, so if you are interested in the game, please check it out.
