Nintendo has begun distributing Update Data Ver. 1.5.0 for the Nintendo Switch 2 title Mario Kart World starting Thursday, January 22, 2026.
The new Team Battle rule is now playable in the Survival online mode.
Team Battles Arrive in Mario Kart World Online Knockout Tour!

Survival is a mode where you race non-stop through a vast world from end to end.
It begins with 24 players, but if you cannot pass through the checkpoints along the course within the designated rank, you are eliminated on the spot.

Until now, Survival was only for individual matches, but Team Battles have been newly added.
You can play with friends in Groups via local wireless or internet communication.
The team composition can be selected from a two-team battle of 12 vs 12, a three-team battle of 8 vs 8 vs 8, or a four-team battle of 6 vs 6 vs 6 vs 6.

In Survival, the number of participants gradually decreases from 24 to 20, then to 16, every time a checkpoint is passed.
In Team Battles, team colors are displayed in the upper right of the screen along with the information of those who pass through, allowing you to track which team has more survivors.
Victory or defeat is determined after the Survival ends based on the total points earned according to the rankings of the team members.

More points can be earned for higher ranks, such as 50 points for 1st place, 40 points for 2nd place, 35 points for 3rd place, and 30 points for 4th place.
On the other hand, being eliminated at the first checkpoint only yields 1 point, so dominating the top ranks as a team is the key to victory.
Even if you are eliminated midway, spectating is possible, allowing you to enjoy the match until the end by switching cameras to players you want to cheer for or sharing comments with other spectators.
