The Second Entries of Various Series Gather!
News

In Tokyo, just when we thought it had snowed a little while ago, the Haruichiban (the first spring gale) blew, and there were days when the maximum temperature exceeded 20°C.
No matter how mild the winter is said to be, I had an image of colder days continuing in February, so this winter feels somewhat strange.
And because there were many warm days, pollen has already started flying, and the harsh season for everyone with hay fever has arrived!
Since sneezing and runny noses won't stop the moment you step outside due to pollen, the best way to avoid it is not to leave the house!
Since being at home makes gaming more productive, let's think positively and consider it a chance to play many games!
Many talked-about titles have already been released or are scheduled for release, but if you're spending a long time at home, you can't have too many titles to play.
In that case, as the saying onko-chishin (learning from the past) goes, it's also good to play wonderful retro games.
When it comes to hardware where numerous masterpieces and cult classics of retro gaming were released, it has to be the Famicom (NES)! Since July 2023, various projects have been underway for the Famicom 40th Anniversary!
Among them, the weekly highlight is the Famicom National Poll, and the results for Vol. 30 "Which Game Comes to Mind for '2'?" have been announced!

The results for the 30th Famicom National Poll, Which Game Comes to Mind for '2'?, have been announced, and the top 20 are being made public on the Famicom 40th Anniversary Campaign Site!
When it comes to titles that have a "2" attached or remind people of "2," it seems many people thought of the numbered second entries of huge hit titles, and almost everything that ranked in was a series second entry title. After all, the masterpiece rate for second entries is high!

1st place is Dragon Quest II: Akuryo no Kamigami with 23.9% of the vote, 2nd place is Super Mario Bros. 2 with 20.1% of the vote, and 3rd place is Mega Man 2 with 10.8% of the vote; the top three are second entries of popular series that continue today and earned many votes. A convincing lineup.
By the way, 2nd Super Robot Wars, which the author voted for, was 23rd! So close!

Now then, the great thing about the Famicom National Poll is that titles that aren't like that also make it in among the many series second entries.
Capcom's masterpiece shooter 1942 at 13th place is one thing, but the one to watch has to be Seikima II Akuma no Gyakushū! at 8th place!
A masterpiece (or cult classic?) action game based on the heavy metal band with insane skills Seikima-II, who are still active today, has unexpectedly ranked in.
Even though the player character of this work, Demon Kogure (now Demon Kakka), is currently 100,061 years old, the fact that his appearance hasn't changed from back then is truly what you'd expect from a demon.
The release of many attractive titles of this type is the beauty of the Famicom, and ranking in the top spots is also the beauty of the Famicom National Poll.

The end of Vol. 30 means that Vol. 31 has begun.
Voting for the 31st Famicom National Poll has started as of Thursday, February 15, 2024! This time's theme is “Which Game Had a Great Package?”!

The many Famicom masterpiece titles were sold not as standalone cartridges, but in wonderful packages.
Previously, Which Game Had a Great Manual? was also conducted, but everyone must have had the experience of gazing at not just the manual but also the package while in the back seat of the car on the way home after having a game bought for them, thinking about the world of the game they were about to journey into!
The cool design on the front is a given, but things like the game description on the back also showed a lot of personality.
Please cast your fair vote for the title whose package still remains in your memory!

This time as well, you can vote from the Famicom National Poll page on the campaign site after logging into your Nintendo Account.
Even if you happen to forget the title, don't worry, as candidates will appear if you enter part of the title.
The voting period for the 31st Famicom National Poll is until Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at 11:59 PM, and the results announcement is scheduled for Thursday, February 22, 2024!

The author voted for Dragon Quest IV: Michibikareshi Monotachi!
Besides the coolness of the hero and the dragon depicted on the front, I felt the future in the word "AI," which could be called a feature of this work described on the back.
However, I will not forgive Kiryl's Thwack toward Psaro the Manslayer!
