This Is The Final Time!
News

July 15, 2023, marked the 40th anniversary of Nintendo's first cartridge-based home game console, the "Family Computer," commonly known as the "Famicom," or “Nintendo Entertainment System (NES)” in English.
The Famicom 40th Anniversary Campaign Site was also launched, and many projects were carried out over the past year.
Whether you played the Famicom in real time back then or are a younger generation who started playing due to the 40th anniversary, you must have constantly felt the Famicom nearby this past year.
However, every festival must end, and the "Famicom Talk Shop Kobayashi Toy Store" has already finished its public availability, and the "Famicom Nationwide Quiz" concluded its final session on Sunday, July 7, 2024.
The addition of titles to the " List of Nintendo Famicom Software," which was updated sequentially, also concluded with all 66 titles after "Wario's Woods." This list can still be viewed after the campaign ends, so please check it out.

The results for the 51st and final "Famicom National Poll," "When You Think of Famicom?", have been announced, and the top 20 rankings have been published on the Famicom 40th Anniversary Campaign Site!
The "Famicom National Poll" has been conducted with truly diverse themes up until now, but "When You Think of Famicom?" is truly a theme fitting for the final installment.

This time, the theme felt like there was a Famicom for every person, but the title that shone in first place was "Super Mario Bros." with a 49.7% share of the votes!
The legendary title, "Super Mario Bros.," which is still loved not just in Japan but all over the world, must be the title that has ranked the most often in the previous "Famicom National Polls."
Since "Super Mario Bros." is not an exaggeration to call it the title representing the Famicom, a vote share of approximately half of the total for the final installment is certainly understandable!

Perhaps because the theme was a culmination of everything until now, the final results were very much in the spirit of the "Famicom National Poll," with many of the masterpieces that have ranked before, such as "Mario Bros." in second place and "Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation" in third place, and also titles with the phrase "Famicom/Famicon" in their name, and so on.

Some of the titles that have ranked in the "Famicom National Poll," including this time, are currently available on Nintendo Switch via Family Computer Nintendo Switch Online.
They are undoubtedly all masterpieces, and Nintendo Switch Online subscribers can play them unlimitedly at no extra charge, so whether you played back then or have never played before, let's experience the world of Famicom!

A Summary of the Famicom 40th Anniversary is Also Available!

With the "Famicom National Poll" reaching its final installment, the one-year Famicom 40th anniversary also concludes.
However! The end of the 40th anniversary means we are moving toward the 41st, 42nd, and the 50th anniversary in the near future!
Since the Famicom has been loved worldwide for 40 years and remains timeless even now, the 50th anniversary in 10 years will undoubtedly be an excitement that surpasses the 40th!

Our site has introduced all rounds of the "Famicom National Poll," but many other projects were also carried out for the Famicom 40th anniversary.
The Nintendo homepage features a summary of the content from this past year, so those of you who have followed it for the whole year can look back, and those who only found out partway through can check out what kind of projects were carried out!

And the Famicom 40th Anniversary Campaign Site is still available, so please check that out as well!
