Blizzard Entertainment's team-action shooter Overwatch 2 will begin Season 9 "Champions " on Wednesday, February 14, 2024. The game will undergo a major game change that is significantly different from the customary season milestone updates.
Season 9 of Overwatch 2 will begin on February 14.
Season 9 of Overwatch 2, "Champions," will begin on Wednesday, February 14, 2024. In the past, new heroes (characters) and adjustments to existing heroes have been added at the start of each new season, but Season 9 will feature updates to Rivalry Play (ranked matches) and the overall game system.
Adjustments to Rival Play and Rank Reset
Overwatch 2 offers a variety of game modes, but one of the most popular is Rivalry Play, where you and your team test your skills. Winning or losing is reflected in your rank, so players take the competition even more seriously than usual. There have been questions about the transparency and balance of rank changes in Rivalry Play for some time. In Season 9, adjustments have been made to the rank update and skill division system, and transparency in each match has been increased.
Along with this change, the top rank, "Champion", has been introduced. In addition, it has been announced that the ranks of all players' rivals and play will be reset. This is a great opportunity for new players as well as existing players to start from the same starting line.
Projectile size increase
Overwatch 2 is all about quick reactions and shooting up, down, left, and right, which can sometimes lead to too harsh a judgment call. Season 9 will increase the size of all projectiles, including gun shells and rocket launchers, in order to stabilize accuracy.
- The size of hit scans that can be fired in rapid succession or have a wide spread range will be increased by 0.05 m.
- Increases the size of hit scans with high system by 0.08m
- Increases the size of shotgun shells or any projectile capable of ultra-high-speed continuous fire by 0.05m
- 0.10m increase in size of projectiles with bullet velocities greater than 50m/second
- 0.15m increase in size for projectiles with bullet velocities below 50m/sec
- Very large projectiles with a base size exceeding 0.5 m are excluded from the change
Life of all heroes increased
Along with the increase in projectile size, the lives of all heroes will also be increased. This will increase the number of hits required to kill an enemy by at least one, with the exception of some heroes. This will increase the challenge of shooting matches by reducing the number of "instant kills," which can easily feel unreasonable.
- Heroes with 150-175 lives will have their lives increased by 25
- Heroes with life between 200 and 300 will have their life increased by 50
- Heroes (tanks) with more than 300 lives will have their lives increased by 75-100
All heroes have additional passives such as natural healing.
Overwatch 2" is a fascinating team game, with each hero assigned to a tank, damage, and support role. However, it has also been recognized that individual player decisions can have too much impact on the team as a whole, so starting with Season 9, all heroes will have a passive that allows them to regenerate their life naturally.
In addition, new passives have been added for each role, and the direction of the game has been changed to adjust the influence of each player on the victory or defeat of the team, while maintaining the fun of team battles.
- All heroes: 20 natural life regeneration per second after 5 seconds without taking damage
- Damage: Damage taken reduces target's recovery by 20%.
- Support: Natural healing now starts after 2.5 seconds
- Tanks: Knockback from opponents reduced, Ultimate Charge from healing and damage reduced, Life increased in role queue game mode
