Rakuten Group, Inc. (hereinafter, Rakuten) has announced that the professional esports team it operates, "RED Rams," has decided to participate in the "Apex Legends Global Series Year 5 Split 1 Pro League - APAC North" and "ALGS OPEN," which are tournaments for the battle royale shooting game "Apex Legends."
They have increased the number of coaches, signed one ambassador agreement, and signed three sponsorship agreements as they head into the tournaments.
Kamaneko Joins as New Main Coach!
Rakuten provided support to "RED Rams" in the "Apex Legends" tournament "ALGS Year 4 Split 1 Playoffs" held in May 2024.
Since then, they have been participating in the professional esports scene and operating "RED Rams" with continuous support from Rakuten.
For the upcoming "ALGS Year 5 Split 1 Pro League" and "ALGS OPEN," the registered members include wayachang, Tico, and Datch, who will continue from last year, as well as coach and analyst Cabbagest, and Kamaneko who is newly joining as the main coach. They will participate in the tournament with a double-coach system.
Ambassador Agreement Signed with 1 Company, Sponsorship Agreements Signed with 3 Companies
Furthermore, in preparation for the tournaments, Rakuten has signed an ambassador agreement with ZOWIE, operated by BenQ Japan Corporation, for "RED Rams."
With the appointment as ambassadors, "RED Rams" will promote ZOWIE's products and brand by showcasing them and participating in tournaments wearing uniforms with the ZOWIE logo.
In addition, as sponsors supporting "RED Rams'" activities, in addition to "DUNLOP," operated by Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Ltd., they have newly signed sponsorship agreements with "Ergotron, Inc." and the Thirdwave Corporation brand "GALLERIA."
This is expected to secure the necessary resources for strengthening the team.
Rakuten, with the goal of also empowering people through esports, has held the "Rakuten esports cup" eight times as an esports-related business since July 2022.
They aim to further develop the esports industry by providing an environment to support the team's success through the operation of "RED Rams."
