Sony Interactive Entertainment announced a revision to the suggested retail prices for the PlayStation 5 (hereafter referred to as the PS5) and its related peripherals in Japan.

Price Revisions Start September 2nd; PS5 to Cost About ¥80,000
The price revisions for the suggested retail prices of these peripherals were implemented starting Monday, September 2, 2024.
Sony Interactive Entertainment stated that this decision was made in response to the impact on its business from recent fluctuations in the global economic situation and other challenging external factors.
This was the first price revision for the PS5 and its related peripherals since the new (slim) model change in November 2023.
For the main products, the standard PS5 with a disc drive increased by ¥13,000, from ¥66,980 (tax included) to ¥79,980 (tax included), and the Digital Edition also increased by ¥13,000, from ¥59,980 (tax included) to ¥72,980 (tax included).
The DualSense Wireless Controller increased by ¥2,000, from ¥9,480 (tax included) to ¥11,480 (tax included) and up, and the PlayStation VR2 increased by ¥15,000, from ¥74,980 (tax included) to ¥89,980 (tax included).
