SEGA Corporation has released an interview video of Hiroyuki Miyasako, who plays the role of Tsuyoshi Kanda, for the currently available Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties.
In this rare footage, he discusses his thoughts on playing the same role after 16 years, memories from that time, and the unique appeal of this title.

SEGA Corporation has released an interview video of Hiroyuki Miyasako (@motohage), who plays Tsuyoshi Kanda, the Lieutenant of the Tojo Clan and the third-generation patriarch of the Nishikiyama Family.
During the interview, Miyasako looks back on memories from his first appearance and talks about his surprise and joy at playing Kanda again after all this time.
YouTubeQ: How was it recording again after 16 years?
Hiroyuki Miyasako: 16 years ago, I felt Kanda Tsuyoshi was an absolutely foul guy.But in Kiwami 3, he has a lot of endearing moments, so I had a blast!
Surprisingly, I was able to slip back into the role quickly. Well, I’m pretty familiar with Kansai dialects, so it wasn’t too hard. Also, I tend to strain my voice when I’m playing Kanda, so it brought back memories.
YouTubeQ: What are some of Kanda’s highlights in the game?
Hiroyuki Miyasako: He’s got more humor to him, and there’s much more meat to him now. I found that really enjoyable.
YouTubeQ: What do you remember from your first Yakuza role?
Hiroyuki Miyasako: Since Yakuza was already popular at that time, the cast was filed with renowned actors. Like Mr. Watarari.
I went over to say hello, and I was taken abackby how firm his grip was when we shook hands. I thought he’d cruch my hand. I put out my jhand and immediately lurched forward from the pain. It gave me a jolt and took me by surprise.
After taht, Tatsuya Fujiwara went to greet him. I probably should’ve warned him in advance, but I snuck by to czech on how things were going. To no one’s surprise, Tatsuya said “Hello” and then was leaning forward a second later. I looked painful.
That has always stuck with me.

It’s been 16 years since I last played Tsuyoshi Kanda. In this game, you’ll see Kanda from several new angles! i think you’ll find him much more compelling.
