Portable power stations are in demand for various purposes, including everyday use, camping, cherry blossom viewing, and disaster preparedness.
Competition among companies developing these is intense, and choosing a product requires considering all factors such as capacity, rated output, safety, price, ease of handling, and design.
Against this backdrop, Yoshino Power Japan announced "YOSHINO B1200 SST" on Thursday, April 17, 2025.
It is a next-generation portable power station that delivers stable performance in any environment by utilizing its proprietary technology "Ternary Solid-State Battery"!
Saiga NAK Attends Yoshino Power Japan New Product Announcement Roundtable!

The Saiga NAK editorial department participated in the Yoshino Power Japan new product announcement roundtable held in Tokyo, where we heard about the product.
The Yoshino Group is a company originating from Yoshino Technology, established in California, USA, in 2021.
Yoshino Power Japan was established in January 2023 as a Japanese corporation handling product sales, pre-shipment checks, customer support, and more in Japan.
They also participate in joint product development, providing feedback on the needs of Japanese users to the development department.
During the Noto Peninsula earthquake, they also provided on-site support activities.

Since 2023, the Yoshino Group has developed 5 products:
...all of which were the world's first portable power stations to feature "Ternary Solid-State Batteries," offering high safety and energy density.
What is a Ternary Solid-State Battery?

So, what exactly is a Ternary Solid-State Battery?

When it comes to conventional batteries, "ternary lithium-ion batteries" and "lithium iron phosphate batteries" have been the mainstream.
Ternary lithium-ion batteries have high energy density but low safety.
Lithium iron phosphate batteries have high safety but low energy density. These were their typical characteristics.

Given this, the Yoshino Group focused on "(all) solid-state batteries," which are the next generation of storage batteries.
Although the industry definition is not yet established, Yoshino's portable power stations are a result of their swift development and commercialization efforts.
In particular, Yoshino Power Japan has trademarked "Ternary Solid-State Battery."
Ternary solid-state batteries offer numerous advantages, including high safety, long lifespan, wide operating temperature range, and high energy density.
They are attracting significant attention worldwide as a next-generation battery.
New Portable Power Station "YOSHINO B1200 SST" Announced

And the "YOSHINO B1200 SST" announced this time is a new portable power station designed to address user feedback, such as the need for a product in the 1000Wh range and lower costs.
Extremely Compact

A key feature of "YOSHINO B1200 SST" is its compactness.
It has obtained TÜV SÜD S Class certification from the German third-party certification body TÜV SÜD, and as of the time of writing, it is the only product in the S Class.

"YOSHINO B1200 SST" features a compact size of 296mm × 204mm × 256mm.
The energy density is 87.74Wh/L, placing it among the highest in the industry.
Strengths in Durability and Operating Environment
"YOSHINO B1200 SST" has also received TÜV SÜD certification for tests including...
- 1-week storage at 65 degrees Celsius
- No ignition for 30 minutes at 85 degrees Celsius
- No ignition in battery nail penetration test
- 80% discharge rate at minus 20 degrees Celsius
- Drop test from 0.9m
- Vibration test (EN62368)
...and more. Furthermore, in their own tests, they confirmed 81.3% battery life even after repeating 4,000 cycles of high-speed charging and discharging at 90% DOD (Depth of Discharge).
A major strength is its performance in low-temperature environments, which often pose a challenge for portable power stations.
It boasts a discharge rate of over 90% at 0 degrees Celsius and 80% at minus 20 degrees Celsius, making them a compelling alternative to bulky, difficult-to-handle gasoline generators!
Pursuit of Compactness & Cost Reduction

"YOSHINO B1200 SST" reduced development costs by repurposing parts from existing products.
While sharing the exact same dimensions as "YOSHINO B600 SST," it boasts a rated output of 1200W and a capacity of 1085Wh.
Furthermore, they succeeded in keeping the product price competitive through mass production!
On the other hand, they thoroughly reviewed areas for improvement, for example, by removing the screw design present on both sides of the "YOSHINO B600 SST" body.
Although it was originally intended for hooking various cables and straps, they incorporated user feedback that this protrusion was inconvenient for storage.
The number of AC outlets has also been increased to 4.
It also supports rapid charging of up to 400W from solar panels.

The foldable solar panels "SP100" and "SP200" are compatible with all Yoshino products.
Experiencing the "YOSHINO B1200 SST" in Person!

- Size: 296×204×256mm
- Output: 1,200W (Max 1,600W)
- Output (AC Outlets): 100V 20A Three-hole × 4
- Output (DC): USB-A × 2, PD60W × 1, PD100W (Bi-directional) × 1, DC5521 12V/10A × 1, Cigarette Lighter Socket × 1
Let's take a look at the "YOSHINO B1200 SST" and reconfirm its specs.

The LCD in the center of the main unit displays information such as the port supplying power, power consumption (watts), remaining battery level (%), and remaining runtime at the current output.

It's convenient to see the total output and usage in real time!
USB Ports with Max 100W Output

The USB ports, ranked #1 among modern people's favorite ports (※according to the author's research), include two Type-A and two Type-C (PD60W/100W).
They're essential not just during disasters; bring this camping or to cherry blossom viewing, and you're sure to be popular!?
For reference, it can fully charge a smartphone (12W) about 76 times.
Higher-end models also have wireless charging

As a side note, the high-end models "YOSHINO B2000 SST" and "YOSHINO B3300 SST" also support wireless charging.
Can Be Fully Charged in About 70 Minutes!

- DC/Solar Input (XT60): 12-60V / 400W Max
With 120V/1,000W AC input, it can be fully charged in about 70 minutes.
Even if you forgot to charge it, a 70-minute charge means you can still take it with you!
Compact and Lightweight Design!

I'll say it again and again, the biggest feature of "YOSHINO B1200 SST" is its compactness.
While sharing the same dimensions as "B600 SST," capacity is increased by 80%.
Rated output has also increased.
And the weight is 11kg.
Considering the YOSHINO B600 SST has a capacity of 602Wh and weighs 7.7kg, the fact that the B1200 SST offers 1085Wh at only 11kg demonstrates significant effort!

"YOSHINO B1200 SST" also includes other convenient features.
Pressing the button on the top right activates the LED light.
Not only does this help you see the ports in the dark, but it's also useful as a light source during disasters.

Using the mobile app "Yoshino (App Store/Google Play)," you can check the unit's status and control various aspects remotely, such as turning ports on/off, power on/off, charging speed, and maximum charging power.
While not essential for operation, it adds significant convenience.

The release date is Monday, May 26, 2025.
And surprisingly, if you pre-order before or by Monday, May 26, 2025, you can purchase it at a discounted price of 99,900 yen (tax included), approximately 42% off the list price!!
This represents an incredible discount of 70,000 yen off the list price, signaling the Yoshino Group's strong confidence in the product.
The all-solid-state battery field is still largely in the research stage and is expected to evolve significantly.
The Yoshino Group is said to receive an exclusive supply of solid-state batteries by collaborating with a sister company in China that manufactures them.
While they haven't yet achieved a complete mass production system, leading to slightly higher product prices, the "YOSHINO B1200 SST" shows promise as a first step towards mass production.
