E-SPORTS&MUSIC FESTIVAL (Chinese name: 香港電競音樂節, abbreviated as EMFHK ) was held at the same venue from July 26 (Friday) to July 28 (Sunday), 2019, and the editorial department of the Hong Kong branch visited the event!
Entering the venue!
Upon entering the venue, we were greeted by a cyber-feeling monument. I was immediately excited.
There were various programs and events supported by ACGHK within ACGHK 2019, including an e-sports event, but the E-SPORTS & MUSIC FESTIVAL was held in a different hall.
Upon entering the hall, visitors were again greeted by cyber-feeling digital signage, while EMF had a modern digital feel despite its retro-feeling logo design.
Free drinks from sponsor Monster Energy!
Sponsor Monster Energy's booth. Props that look like they would look great on Instagram are placed here.
The new product, MANGO LOCO, is being distributed for sampling and you can drink it for free. It was mango magi mango.
Gaming smartphone ROG Phone2 present campaign is also available.
ROG, the gaming brand of ASUS, recently announced its newest gaming smartphone, the ROG Phone 2.
ROG's booth was all about the ROG Phone 2.
Actual devices and exclusive accessories are on display. Unfortunately, we were not able to touch the actual device...
ROG's photo booth looks like a good place to take pictures for Instagram. At the booth, there was a giveaway campaign where you could take a photo and post it on SNS with a hashtag.
There are plenty of props available, so you won't be short of ideas.
Of course, our editorial department was in on the campaign. Wearing a camouflage vest and helmet, and holding a ROG board!
Racing games are popular in Hong Kong
As you may have guessed, racing games are very popular in Hong Kong. Even if you go to a gaming store, you will find a wide variety of products for racing games.
I wonder how much it would cost to have a curved display, a steering wheel controller, and a special seat at home...
Car manufacturers are entering the e-motorsports (e-racing) market, professional racing drivers are turning into e-racing drivers, and there is a lot of talk about e-motorsports in the industry.
It is said that young people in Japan are drastically turning away from cars, but I hope that e-sports will be a gateway to the car industry.
VR corner is also popular
The year 2016 is said to be the first year of VR, and various contents, not only games, have been released to the world. Recently, VR games have been very popular in Hong Kong.
The booth of Vita (維他), a Hong Kong beverage maker, is also promoting VR, and Vita has also been focusing on e-sports recently.
You can play retro gaming!
At the "RETRO FIGHTING GAME ZONE", which is a favorite of old men, you can play Street Fighter and The King of Fighters series for free.
And to further tickle the children's fancy of old men, the Street Fighter series and The King of Fighters series released for home video game consoles are on display.
I hope CAPCOM and SNK will collaborate again....
A game corner reminiscent of a game arcade. Here, you can play any of the previous King of Fighters series except for the latest one.
The KOF series is very popular in Hong Kong.
Of course, the Street Fighter series is also available.
Even though it is a retro game, it is played by a surprisingly large number of young people, and it is truly a timeless classic.
We spotted Hong Kong's popular professional Human Bomb player! He also took the stage on the second day of the event.
"You didn't come on the first day, you came on the last day!" Human Bomb asked me. You are absolutely right...
